Another Night of RPAC Boys Basketball Tournament Hoops is in the Books; Semifinal Action on Friday


The Boys RPAC Basketball Tournament continued on Tuesday evening. On the East side, Southwest was the host, and on the West, Maywood-Hayes Center hosted in Hayes Center. After the games on Tuesday, we know who will be playing in the semifinals.

RPAC WEST BOYS BASKETBALL RESULTS


The first game of the day was a consolation matchup between #5 seeded Maywood-Hayes Center and #8 seed Wauneta-Palisade. Maywood-Hayes Center was able to take care of business in this one, winning 59-34. The Wolves were able to find success in getting out in the open court and underneath using their size.



Wauneta-Palisade played with incredible effort but could not shorten the deficit.


Nate Hiett had nine points to lead Wauneta-Palisade. Kaden Dorn added six.


For Maywood-Hayes Center, Kody Schwenk had 10 points, Charlie Callis had six, Kade Broz added nine, and Jaxson Anders had 13.



The next game was another consolation game as #6 Maxwell played #7 Sutherland. The Wildcats won 52-44. Fast forward to the fourth quarter, it was 42-37 in favor of Maxwell. The Wildcats made a strong surge and went up by double-digits. But as you can see, the Sailors did not give up.


They made things interesting with some hustle plays and big shots. But they could not complete the comeback.


Sutherland was led by 10 points from Jackson Saner and Mason Mortimer with nine points.


For Maxwell, Kole Jones had eight, Cole Huffman had 12, and Jesse Reyes had 10.



Then, it was on to the winners' portion of the bracket.


What a game we had between #1 seed Hitchcock County and #4 seed Paxton. One week ago, these two teams played, and Paxton won 51-43.


This time around, Paxton won again, and it was close once again, 51-48. This game was tight throughout as neither squad could get an advantage. Paxton led 12-8 after the first. Paxton carried that narrow lead to the half, 28-24.




In the third, the teams traded the lead, but heading to the fourth, Hitchcock County found themselves down 38-37.


In the final period it remind so close, see a theme here, it was high-drama action. Eventually, the Tigers were able to do enough and sneak away with a win.


Hitchcock County was led by Jayce Hauxwell with 20 points and 19 from Adam Kisker.


Paxton had a big game from Tanner Hebblethwaite as he scored 25 points, and Jasper Brewster scored eight.


In the final game of the night, it was #2 Dundy County Stratton versus #3 Wallace. These two teams played a week ago, too, and DCS won 76-24. This time, it was closer, and DCS won again 65-40.


Wallace came out and matched the intensity of the Tigers. But DCS hit six three-pointers in the opening quarter to create a 26-17 lead. From there,e the Tigers just kept building and went to the intermission up 47-26.





In the second half, DCS maintained the lead en route to their win.


Lane Bybee led the way for DCS with 18 points, and Ethan Latta scored 15. August Shaw added 13, and Dante Horner scored 13. As a team, the Tigers hit 10 three-pointers.


For Wallace, Max Hanson scored 14, and Jason Fisher had nine.





RPAC EAST BOYS BASKETBALL RESULTS


On the East side, it was #4 seed Medicine Valley versus #8 seeded Arapahoe. Medicine Valley was able to secure the win 47-39. Arapahoe continues to play hard this season but just couldn't quite get the win in this one.


Medicine Valley will look to build off of this one, as the Raiders are a team that could be a tough out late in the season.



Arapahoe was led by 10 points from Eli Shafer, nine from Grayson Koller, and Alex Diaz and Chris Hermes each had six.


For Medicine Valley, Brody Senff had 15, Tyce Pate added nine, and Mason Roblee scored eight.



On the East side, the second game was #3 seed Cambridge versus #7 seed Southern Valley. The Eagles were able to take down the Trojans 51-49. Cambridge had a 34-23 lead over Southern Valley at the half. But Southern Valley stood strong and found a way to win.



Isaac Hamilton had 26 points, and Tate Weatherwax had 10.


Cambridge was led by Brady Ahlemeyer with 16 points and Hodge Raburn with 14.


The third game of the day was the first quarterfinal game of the winner's bracket.


This matchup was between #1 seeded Alma and #5 seeded Hi-Line. Alma took this one 47-30. Hi-Line did what we thought they would do: hang around with these tough opponents. It was tied at 6-6 after the first quarter. At halftime, the scoring was still hard to come by, and Alma led 15-10.



In the third quarter, Alma increased the lead a little more, and heading to the final period, it was 30-21. Alma used some tight defense and outscored Hi-Line 17-9 to close out the win in the fourth.


For Alma, Tucker Biskup scored 14 and Grady Faimon 13.


Hi-Line was paced by Zach Whittaker's nine points and Dawson Ruda's eight.




In the night's final game, #6 seed Southwest played #2 seed Bertrand. A couple of weeks back, Bertrand won this game 57-53. Bertrand won again, and it was 72-52. Bertrand was firing on all cylinders. They hit shots from all over the floor.



They led 43-20 at halftime. They grew the lead to 30 after the third quarter, 63-33. The Vikings held onto that big lead to move onto the semifinals.


Houston Billeter had 15 points for Southwest. Jacob Barber had seven, and Trenton Williams and Deric Kelley each had six.




Bertrand had four players in double figures, with Thunder Nelson scoring 24, Kayden Hatfield scoring 17 points, including five threes, Marcus Hernandez having 16, and Hunter Nelson scoring 12.
