The season just keeps winding down. Bertrand hosted Arapahoe for a girls and boys double-header as both the girls and boys are nearing postseason play.
The Vikings and the Warriors split games on the night with Arapahoe winning the girls and Bertrand taking the boys.
In the girls game, Arapahoe was able to win 44-29. Both teams had great effort, but the Warriors were able to pressure the Vikings and get several easy buckets. In the opening quarter, Arapahoe was able to set the tone and lead 11-5. As the first half progressed, the Vikings got solid looks but could not get the lid off the rim.
The second quarter was a defensive battle, and Arapahoe went up 17-11.
In the third quarter, the Warriors and the Vikings both found success on offense; Arapahoe scored 16, and Bertrand scored 10. It was 33-21 going to the fourth.
Arapahoe outscored Bertrand 11-8 in the final quarter to close things out.
Following the game, we chatted with Arapahoe's Sage Larson.
For Bertrand, Brooklyn Evans had 15 points, and Addie Andersen had six. For Arapahoe, Clara Hilker and Suttyn Shafer had eight, Sawyer Shafer had seven, and Sage Larson had six.
Bertrand is 9-13 and will play Kenesaw on Saturday. For Arapahoe, they are now 15-9 and will play in the D1-10 Subdistrict Tournament. They are the #2 seed and will play #3 Cambridge on Tuesday at 7:30 P.M. CT at Southwest. This will be the third meeting for them and the Trojans, and the rubber match.

In the boys game, it was Bertrand who snagged the victory, with the final tally being 70-43. Bertrand jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the first quarter before Arapahoe called a timeout to regroup. The Warriors slowly climbed back into the game and trailed 16-7 after one quarter.
Then, they kept working their way closer in the second, trailing 18-16 with 5:10.
Bertrand caught fire and played tight defense as they went to halftime up 35-18. In the third quarter, Bertrand outscored the Warriors 15-12, and it was 50-30 heading to the final quarter.
In the fourth, both teams continued to battle. Bertrand scored 20 points, and for Arapahoe, they had 13.
We visited with Thunder Nelson of Bertrand about the win.
For Arapahoe, Will Cacy had 18 points and Grayson Koller had nine. Thunder Nelson led Bertrand with 26 points, Marcus Hernandez had 17, Hunter Nelson had 12, and Kayden Hatfield had 11.
Bertrand moves to 17-5 and will play at Kenesaw on Saturday. Arapahoe is 2-20 and will play Alma next Friday at home.
