Hi-Line traveled down Highway 23 Tuesday evening for a dual against Medicine Valley. The Bulls jumped out early and had to ride the waves to hold off the Raiders to complete the 3-0 sweep, 25-5, 25-20, 25-18.
In set one, it was all Hi-Line as they were quite literally on fire from the service line unofficially posting 10 aces in this set alone. Hi-Line took a commanding 9-1 lead before they forced Medicine Valley to call a time-out. Out of the timeout, there were service errors and hitting errors but the Bulls created separation and took set one 25-5.
In set two, the Raiders didn't let the Bulls create a gap from first serve and they did a lot of ball trading from both service errors and hitting errors. It was knotted at 5-5 before Hi-Line began to get a little bit of a lead on the Raiders but Medicine Valley stormed back forcing a Bulls timeout at 9-8 in favor of Medicine Valley. The Bulls adjusted well out of the timeout creating some distance and eventually going on to win the set 25-20.
In the final set of the match, Hi-Line came out hot again getting a 7-0 lead before Medicine Valley called a timeout. The Raiders adjusted out of that timeout and came out with some big swings forcing the Bulls to call a timeout with the score reading 13-9 in favor of Hi-Line. It was more errors and ball trading but Medicine Valley was hanging tough when they forced another Bull timeout when the score read 20-16 in favor of the Bulls. Hi-Line was able to hold off Medicine Valley to win the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
Unofficially, Hi-Line had 16 aces and were led by Malia Viter with 9 kills.
For Medicine Valley, unofficially they had seven aces and were led by Remmi Stout with 10 kills.
Hi-Line will travel to Wilcox-Hildreth on Thursday for a triangular with the Falcons and SEM and will host South Loup on Friday.
Medicine Valley will host Arthur County on Thursday.
