Saturday evening featured some of the best volleyball players in the area facing off in the Wild West All-Star Volleyball Classic hosted by McCook Community College. The East was able to win the match three sets to one, as there was some fantastic volleyball on display.
The first set was a back-and-forth affair and finally, the East won it, 26-24. In the second set, the East started strong up 4-0, but the West came storming back to tie it at 10-10. From there the West kept pushing forth, and they were able to win the second set, 25-21.
In the third set, it was all East. They were up 10-3 in the early stages of the set, as the West took a timeout. The West never could fully recover, as the East won the set, 25-14.
In the fourth and final set, both teams were giving each other everything they could handle. But, it was the East again, taking the set 25-19 and the match.
There were some great numbers posted from RPAC member players. For the East, Mataya Stubbs of Maxwell had 14 assists, Emerson Swanson of Arapahoe had 12 digs and four aces, Brelle Miller of Cambridge had 11 assists, four digs, three aces and a kill. Milla Farr of Medicine Valley totaled seven kills, and two assist blocks.
Caylin Barnett of Southwest was the MVP and for the East and she was effective with 14 kills, 15 digs and one ace.
For the West, their MVP was Mae Siegel of North Platte St. Pat's with 16 kills.
Other RPAC players on the West had great games too. Three players from Maywood-Hayes Center were competing, as Kiley Hejtmanek of Maywood-Hayes Center was credited with 17 assists, three kills, and 16 digs, Olivia Hansen had seven kills, and two digs, Ashlin Broz totaled 13 digs.
For Wauneta-Palisade, they had a pair of players in the match, Cali Cox had two kills, one assist, and one dig and Halle Bardlsey had 16 assists, three kills, three digs, and an ace.
