Falcons Claim Class D State Runner-Up, Three RPAC Golfers Take Home Medals

It was a big day for the Hitchcock County Falcons. They came into the second day of the Class D State Invite knowing what they would have to do to finish as a top-two team. And they were able to accomplish it.





It seems like this spring we have mentioned weather a lot, so let's keep the theme going. What an absolutely stark difference in weather between Tuesday's and Wednesday's action. It was Sunny, 75, light breeze. An absolute perfect day for golf.




Let's get into the team scores for the Class D State Meet.

For the Falcons they were solid throughout the entire tournament. A 339 on day one and then a 327 on day two. It was clear that each day their golfers got stronger as the tournament progressed. Their team score from Wednesday, they took Baker's 74, Melchert's 78, Ashton Parker Johnson's 84 and Mason Schilke's 91. Darin Neben shot a 96 a solid score too. Melchert's 78 was a personal best.




Baker's two-day scores were 77 and 74, Melchert was 83 and 78, Parker-Johnson was an 86 and 84, Neben was a 93 and a 96, and Schilke was a 105 and 91.





We caught up with both Jack Baker and Brayden Melchert after getting the trophy and their medals.






Southern Valley's Kamden Bose was excellent, taking 5th place with a 155. Bose had a 77 on Tuesday and a 78 on Wednesday. Braxton Hammond was just outside of medaling with a 164 and T-19th. Braxton had a 79 on day one and an 85 on day two.


Southwest's Colton Sedlacek had a nice day, shooting an 84 on day two and finished 49th. His total was 180. His two-day scores were 96 and 84.






Cambridge's Micah Gerlach finished T-42nd and shot a 177 between the two days. He shot an 81 and a 96.


Tyce Pate was really good on Wednesday. He finished 33rd, a 175 total, and had an 84 on Wednesday.


From Class C, William VanBoening of Alma finished T-40th with an 87 in the one day tournament.
