Hitchcock County Girls and Boys Win at Home Against Medicine Valley



On Thursday evening, we were in Trenton for some hoops action between the Medicine Valley Raiders and the Hitchcock County Falcons. The home teams were the victors, as Hitchcock County won both matchups by a steep margin.


In the girls game, Hitchcock County started and finished strong, winning 63-19. In the opening quarter, the Falcons took no time getting rolling as they took a 22-7 lead heading to the second quarter. The Raiders scored another seven points, but the Falcons put up another 20 to lead 42-14 at halftime.


The Falcons kept up the strong pressure in the third quarter and led 57-16. Medicine Valley could break the pressure of the Falcons at times but could not find the bottom of the net.


In the fourth quarter, the scoring tapered for both teams as Hitchcock County scored six points and Medicine Valley scored three.

For Medicine Valley, Remmi Stout led the scoring with 12 points, and she had four rebounds, steals, and blocks. Haylie Gustafson had five points, and Oakley Stout had two. Medicine Valley is now 0-6 and will play South Loup at home on Friday evening.


For Hitchcock County, they had three players in double figures. Madysen Carlson had 16 points and nine boards, Raegan Hagan had 14 points, seven steals, and six rebounds, and Asia Homma had 12 points. Rilley Hagan added nine points. Hitchcock County is now 3-2 and will play Rawlins County on the road Friday.



In the boys game, we had a matchup between a pair of evenly matched teams. But Hitchcock County created separation early and not look back, winning 55-26. In the first quarter, scoring was hard to come by and the Falcons led 10-5 after one.



In the second quarter, Hitchcock County found some success, getting shots to fall, and they led 26-11 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Raiders came out with some fire, but the shots were just not going in for them. Hitchcock County increased its lead, 43-17, heading to the fourth quarter.


Hitchcock County closed the game out in the final period with a 12-9 advantage.

For Medicine Valley, they are now 3-3 and will play South Loup at home on Friday. Brody Senff led the Raiders with eight points, Ethan Brown had six points, Lucas Einspahr had five, Tyce Pate scored four, and Mason Roblee scored three.


Hitchcock County moves to 4-1 and will play Rawlins County on the road Friday. Adam Kisker had a monster game with 23 points, Jayce Hauxwell had 12, Mason Schilke scored nine, and Jack Baker added six.
