
Maxwell made the trip to Eustis on Tuesday for a matchup against the Hi-Line Bulls on the basketball court. The teams split the matchups, with the Maxwell girls winning big and the Hi-Line boys winning their game.
For the girls game, Maxwell won convincingly, 65-39. The Wildcats came out and applied a ton of pressure full court with a press, and once the ball crossed the midline, they continued to pressure the rock.
Every time the ball was inbounded, a trap came. Throughout the game, the Bulls did find a way through it. Emory Christensen had a number of open looks and converted on them for Maxwell, who scored nine points in the opening quarter. After the first quarter, Maxwell led 20-7.
Both teams' offenses were active in the second quarter. Maxwell scored 15, and Hi-Line scored 13. At the half, the score was 35-20.
Hi-Line continued to hang around, but late in the third quarter and into the fourth quarter, Maxwell was able to create more distance, and Maddy Flock scored 15 points in the second half, including three three-pointers.
After the third quarter, Maxwell's lead was 20 points, 48-28.
In the fourth quarter, both teams continued to battle hard until the end of the game.
Ellaray Koch had 12 points for Hi-Line, Olivia Wall scored 12, and Bentley Stubbs scored seven.
For Maxwell, Maddy Flock had 23 points, Emory Christensen put up 16 points, Kristyn Cheek had nine, and Jenna Miller scored seven.

Hi-Line falls to 0-3 and will play at Southern Valley on Thursday. That will be an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup. Maxwell is now 3-0 and host St. Pat's on Thursday.
The boys matchup between the Wildcats and the Bulls was a thriller. Hi-Line walked away victorious, 59-54. Maxwell came out on fire, hitting five three-pointers in the opening quarter. Maxwell went on an 11-2 run to set the tone. They led 26-13 as we went to the second quarter.
The offenses remained strong in the second quarter, as Hi-Line cut into the deficit by scoring 16 points and 12 for Maxwell. Zach Whittaker scored 12 points in the half for the Bulls, and Kole Jones scored 11 for the Wildcats.
In the third period, Hi-Line's offense kept rolling scoring 17 points and their defense got tough by holding Maxwell to seven points. It was 46-45 going to the final stanza.
Hi-Line was doing some impressive things on the defensive side, switching things up and forcing the Wildcats into mistakes. With just under two minutes to go, Zach Whittaker hit a 16-foot jumper on the right baseline to tie it up at 54-54.
Then, after a stop, Brody Difenbaugh received a nice pass from Whittaker and hit a layup to make it 56-54 with 1:17 to go.
Gavin Tilson hit some clutch free throws at the end to close things out.
Maxwell had some great performances from several of its players. Jesse Reyes scored 12 points, Kole Jones had 18 points, and Joaquin Vega had 10 points.
Hi-Line was led by Zach Whittaker with 21 points, Brody Difenbaugh had 11, and Judah Niemeier had 10.
