Medicine Valley and Hitchcock County Split Matchups

Thursday evening Medicine Valley played host to Hitchcock County for a girls and boys double-header. The Raiders took the girls' game and Hitchcock County was able to nab the victory in the boys' game.


We begin with the girls' matchup, it was an excellent game, and Medicine Valley took down Hitchcock County 54-43.


In the first quarter, Hitchcock County controlled the game. Their fullcourt pressure caused problems for Medicine Valley, and the offense was flowing for the Falcons. Medicine Valley trimmed the deficit down in the second quarter and trailed 19-18 going into the half.






In the third period, the offenses picked up and the shots were falling for both teams. We went to the final quarter with Hitchcock County leading 37-33.


In the final period, Medicine Valley found its footing in a big way. They scored 21 points, and held Hitchcock County to just six to secure the win.



Stella Heapy had a huge game for Medicine Valley, she scored 26 points and 18 of them were in the second half. We caught up with Stella after the game, check out her comments below.



Alaina Eberle hit some big shots to help the cause for Medicine Valley too. She added 11 points in the effort. They are now 2-4 on the season.


Hitchcock County had a nice game from Katie Jarecke with 16 points and Raegan Hagan had 10, as did Byanka Tyan. The Falcons are 1-4 now.


In the boy's game, Hitchcock County jumped out to a big lead and controlled the contest, winning 58-47. The Falcons started the game with some excellent offense, leading 24-9 after the first eight minutes. The main difference though was their ability to get rebounds and second-chance points.

Medicine Valley was able to trim the deficit a little though, and trailed 34-24 going to halftime. In the third quarter, the teams traded buckets and the Falcons went into the final quarter up by 12, 44-32. In the fourth, Medicine Valley made a couple of attempts at a comeback, but the Falcons stayed composed and secured the win.


For Medicine Valley, Brody Senff had 13 points and Lucas Einspahr added 11. The Raiders are 3-3 on the season now.





Hitchcock County is 2-3 and they had a huge game from Adam Kisker and his 23 points. Jaxon Unrein had 14 and Jayce Hauxwell added 10.
