Thursday evening the RPAC Volleyball Tournament got underway and here were the results from the first night of action.
EAST DIVISION
We begin with the first round matchups, specifically in Bartley where Southwest hosted. #3 seeded Alma took on the #6 seeded Southern Valley and it was the Cardinals who came away with the win.
7th seeded Bertrand battled against #2 seeded Southwest. Southwest won in three sets and were led by Caylin Barnett and her 15 kills and 10 digs.
Then in Cambridge, it was #4 seed Medicine Valley team who took on #5 seeded Arapahoe. The Warriors took care of business getting the sweep.
Cambridge had a bye in the first round as they are the #1 seed.
Following those first set of matches in the east, volleyball continued from the two locations as Southern Valley and Bertrand played in the consolation. The Eagles won that match.
Then in the winner's bracket, Southwest battled against Alma and won in three sets. Bailey Truksa had 10 kills, one block, and nine digs.
Arapahoe then took on top-seeded Cambridge and lost in three sets.
WEST DIVISION
The West division had a pair of host sites as well with Maywood-Hayes Center a #1 seed, they held matches at Hayes Center and Wallace the #2 seed hosted contests.
In Wallace, Paxton, the #3 seed took on the #6 seeded Maxwell Wildcats. Paxton won in three sets and was led by Audrey Holm with her 12 kills in the match.
The other opening round match in Wallace was #7 seed Dundy County Stratton versus #2 seed Wallace. The Wildcats won via the sweep to move on in the tournament.
Now for Maywood-Hayes Center they had a bye in the first round since they are the #1 seed.
The #4 seed Broncos of Wauneta-Palisade and the #5 seeded Falcons of Hitchcock County battled and it was the Broncos who came out on top in three sets.
Now for second round matchups first in the consolation, Maxwell was able to beat Dundy County-Stratton to continue playing the tournament.
In the winner's bracket, Wallace and Paxton took the court and Wallace won in four sets. Holm had a monster match with 30 kills for the Tigers.
Maywood-Hayes Center then took on Wauneta-Palisade and the #1 seeded Wolves won in three sets. Olivia Hansen had 18 kills to lead the way for the Wolves.
