Raiders and Wildcats Split Games Tuesday Night



On Tuesday evening, Wallace hosted Medicine Valley for a Girls and Boys Basketball double-header. The squads split those matchups as Wallace won the girls matchup and Medicine Valley took the boys.


Let's begin with the girls game. It was a tight one all the way down to the wire, but Wallace won 40-35. In the first quarter, Wallace had a slight edge, winning by one, 10-9. In the second quarter, the offense was rolling for Medicine Valley; scoring 16 points while holding the Wildcats to nine. It was 25-19 at the intermission.


In the third quarter, Wallace took control in a quarter that was dominated by defense, 27-26. Medicine Valley had the lead with 4:45 to go in the game 30-28. But Wallace had two three-pointers, one from Kaley Sauser and the other from Ashley Robertson, and another two-point bucket to make it 36-30 with 3:43 to go in the game.


Medicine Valley attempted to make a surge to get back into the game but could not complete the comeback.



Wallace is now 4-6 and will play Arthur County on Friday. Ashley Robertson and Kaley Sauser led the Wildcats with nine points. Reagan Finley added eight.

For Medicine Valley, they are now 1-8 and they were led by Remmi Stout with 17 points, seven rebounds, five steals and five blocks. Oakley Stout had eight points and 11 rebounds. Haylie Gustafson had six points and nine rebounds. Jordiya Phillips had nine rebounds. The Raiders will play Arapahoe on Friday.


In the boys game, Medicine Valley used a strong first half to create space and beat Wallace 47-32.


The first quarter was tough sledding for both teams as Medicine Valley led 8-4. In the second quarter, Medicine Valley got going. The Raiders hit a few shots right out of the period and led 16-4 with six minutes to go in the first half. Wallace had to take a timeout to regroup.


The Raiders kept rolling in the quarter, leading 26-9 at halftime. In the third quarter, Wallace got some things going, scoring 12 in the quarter, the problem was for the Wildcats was Medicine Valley scored 13 and it was 39-21 going to the fourth.


Wallace did win the fourth quarter, outscoring the Raiders 11-8. But, the deficit was too large.

For Wallace, Jason Fisher had 10 points, Colt Franklin added six, and Mason Messersmith scored five. The Wildcats are now 6-4 and will play at Arthur County on Friday.


Medicine Valley was led by Brody Senff's 15 points, Lucas Einspahr had 14, and Tyce Pate added eight. Medicine Valley is now 4-5 and will play at home Friday versus Arapahoe.
