Maxwell/St. Pat's has wrapped up the regular season and is ready for postseason play. Before we discuss districts, let's look at the final regular season game for Maxwell/St. Pat's. They faced Centennial and fell, 19-9.
The Broncos took no time getting ahead at home. In the bottom half of the first, Centennial scored nine runs to go up 9-0. Give Maxwell/St. Pat's some credit, they bounced back in the top of the second and scored seven runs. It was 9-7 going to the top of the third.
In the top of the third inning, Maxwell/St. Pat's scored two more runs and all of the sudden it was tied up at 9-9. In the bottom of the third, Centennial scored four runs and reclaimed the lead, 13-9.
The score remained that way until the home half of the fifth inning. Centennial scored six runs to apply the 10-run rule and secure the win.
At the dish, Maxwell St. Pat's was solid. Cyrrus Messersmith was 2-3 with three RBI's, Breckyn Collins was 1-4 with an RBI, and Kole Jones was 1-4 with an RBI. Braxton Williams had an RBI too.
Isaac Irish pitched 3.2 innings and had eight earned runs and three strikeouts, Jones went .2 innings and allowed three earned runs.
Maxwell St. Pat's was supposed to have a game on Saturday against Central City/Centura, but due to the forecasted weather, it was canceled. Maxwell/St. Pat's record is 1-8 heading into postseason play.
Maxwell/St. Pat's will compete in the C-1 District in Malcolm. They are the #4 seed and will play #5 seeded Tekamah-Herman. The game will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2nd. If they win, they would play that evening at 6:00 P.M. against #1 seed Malcolm. If they win that game, they would play on Friday against either #2 seed Fort Calhoun or #3 seed GACC-WPB.
