Dundy County Stratton played in the D1-5 District Final on Monday evening against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in Kearney. The Tigers were the #5 seed and the Bulldogs were the #12 seed. DCS had a narrow lead at halftime, 23-22, but in the second half, they outscored HLHF 28-14 to secure the win. Jackson Kerchal had a big game with 21 points and 13 rebounds. The Tigers are now 22-4 and punched their ticket to the state tournament. They are the #5 seed and will face #4 seeded Elm Creek on Wednesday at 10:45 A.M. in Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Maywood-Hayes Center the #2 seed played in the D1-2 District Final on Tuesday as they hosted Loomis the #15 seed. Maywood-Hayes Center was able to get the win, 50-31. MHC took no time getting going, as they led at halftime, 28-10. In the third quarter, Loomis made things interesting as they scored 17 while holding MHC to five, and going into the final quarter MHC led 33-27. MHC though, took over as they outscored Loomis 17-4 to close the game. Hayden Kramer led MHC with 12 points in the game. Kyler Cox and Jeremiah Ingison had 11 in the game. MHC is now 25-2 and is the #2 seed in class D1 and will play #7 seeded Ansley-Litchfield on Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. from the Bob Devaney Sports Center. For the Wolves, this is the first time since co-oping they have made it to the State Tournament.
Medicine Valley played in the D2-1 District Final this past week on Monday. They took on #1 seeded Shelton, in Shelton, and fell 90-46. Medicine Valley was hanging with the Bulldogs after one quarter as they trailed 18-14, but in the next three periods, Shelton took complete control and never looked back. Medicine Valley ends the season at 6-17.
Paxton played on Monday as the #6 seed in Broken Bow against #11 seeded Stuart for the D2-6 District Final. The Tigers were able to get the win, 56-47. Paxton was steady throughout the game scoring at least 11 points in each quarter en route to their victory. Paxton got a great game from Isaiah Fox as he poured in 25 points and seven rebounds.
