It was another full week of games for RPAC Boys Basketball teams. Squads are beginning to ramp back up, some did deal with postponements/cancellations on Saturday the 4th.
Alma
The Cardinals had two games this past week and went 2-0. First, they beat Medicine Valley on road Friday, 53-40. That was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup so you can read the full game story here.
Alma then played Superior on Saturday, a game they moved up to beat the weather. Alma won 60-37. Tucker Biskup had 27 points and 10 boards, and Zavier Mitchell had 21 points.
Alma is now 8-1 and will face Northern Valley on Tuesday at home, host Franklin Thursday, and go to Axtell on Thursday.
Arapahoe
The Warriors are 1-9 and did not have any games this past week. They will play at Maxwell on Tuesday, January 7th, then face Medicine Valley on the road on the 10th and Southern Valley at home on the 11th.
Bertrand
Bertrand had a fairly busy week as they played in the Elm Creek Holiday Tournament and against Wauneta-Palisade on Friday. On Monday, they opened the Elm Creek Holiday Tournament with a game against Gibbon. They lost 57-48. Hunter Nelson led the scoring with 15 points, and then Thunder Nelson and Marcus Hernandez each had a double-double with 13 points 10 rebounds and 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Bertrand then faced Arcadia-Loup City in the consolation game on Tuesday and lost 59-55. Thunder Nelson scored 25 points, Eric Wood had 13 and Hernandez had 10.
Their final game of the week is on Friday in Bertrand against conference foe, Wauneta-Palisade. The Vikings won big, 74-29. Thunder Nelson was big with 32 points, Hunter Nelson scored 14, and Marcus Hernandez had 12.
Bertrand is 6-4 and will be at Wilcox-Hildreth on Tuesday, at home Thursday against Southern Valley, which is an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, and then at South Loup on Saturday.
Cambridge
The Trojans played one game this week, while their other scheduled game was moved to Monday due to the weather. They played Maywood-Hayes Center on the road and won 54-40. The Trojans had a big game from Brady Ahlemeyer with 22 points, and Krayton Ruggles added 16.
Cambridge was set to face Paxton on Saturday at home, but the snow and ice derailed those plans. After rescheduling for Monday, the conditions did not improve enough and they canceled the game.
Cambridge is now 3-6 and will be home against Southwest, an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup.
Dundy County Stratton
The Tigers had the week off, but this week, they will face Chase County on Tuesday on the road. DCS is 8-1.
Hi-Line
Hi-Line was off this week but will resume play on Tuesday. Hi-Line is now 4-5 and will play again on January 7th at Maywood-Hayes Center and then at SEM on January 9th.
Hitchcock County
The Falcons played one game, the first part of the Brady Holiday Tournament on January 3rd. On the 4th their game was postponed/canceled. But, on the 3rd they played Anselmo-Merna and won 46-31. It was a rocky opening quarter, as Hitchcock County led 7-3. But the Falcons got things corrected and found success on offense going forward.
The Falcons are 6-1 and will play Southwest on Tuesday at home, and then go to Wauneta-Palisade on Friday.
Maxwell
The Wildcats did not have any games this past week. Maxwell is now 1-6 and is off until Tuesday, January 7th, when they host Arapahoe, and then on January 10th, they have Hershey at home, and on January 11th, they go to Overton.
Maywood-Hayes Center
As we stated in last week's blog, Maywood-Hayes Center had a couple of nice wins in the Paxton Holiday Tournament and were named champs. This past week, they hosted Cambridge on Friday and lost 54-40. Jaxson Anders led the Wolves with 17 points. Grady Erickson added five seven points and five rebounds.
MHC is now 7-3 and will play Hi-Line at home on Tuesday in Maywood.
Medicine Valley
The Raiders had one game last week, a home matchup versus Alma which was a 53-40 loss. It was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, so you can read the full game story here.
Medicine Valley is 3-5 and will be at Wallace on Tuesday and then host Arapahoe on Friday. Their matchup on Tuesday is an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup.
Paxton
The Tigers had one game last week, the final matchup of the Paxton Holiday Tournament. They played Gaden County and won a close game, 57-51. Tanner Hebblethwaite got back on track with a big game at 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Jasper Brewster had 10, Noah Coppersmith scored eight points, Maddex McConnell had six, and Ethan Hardin scored five.
The Tigers are 6-2 and will be at Leyton on Thursday, and then home versus Maywood-Hayes Center on Friday.
Southern Valley
Southern Valley ended up having the week off as they were set to play Southwest, but the snow and ice changed those plans. They will postpone that game. The Eagles are 2-8 and will play Bertrand on Thursday on the road, which is an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, and then at Arapahoe on Saturday.
Southwest
The Roughriders played one of two games on their schedule as we stated earlier, their matchup with Southern Valley was postponed. But they played Franklin on Friday and won 56-27.
The Roughriders are now 3-5 and will play Hitchcock County on the road Tuesday, go to Cambridge on Friday, and host Wauneta-Palisade on Saturday.
Sutherland
Sutherland was off last week and will resume action on January 7th at home against Hyannis, travel to Sandhills/Thedford on January 10th, and host Perkins County on January 11th.
Wallace
The Wildcats played in the Perkins County Holiday Tournament on December 31st and January 2nd. First, they fell to Mitchell, 53-43. In the consolation game, the Wildcats played South Platte and won 45-36. A nice bounceback for Wallace.
The Wildcats are now 6-3 and will play at home on Tuesday against Medicine Valley, which is an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, at Arthur County on Friday, and home on Saturday against Mullen.
Wauneta-Palisade
Wauneta-Palisade hit the road on Friday to face Bertrand. The Vikings beat the Broncos, 74-29. The Broncos found themselves down 43-16 at halftime and just couldn't recover.
The Broncos are now 1-7 and this week they will play at Cheylin, KS on Tuesday, home versus Hitchcock County on Friday, and at Southwest on Saturday.
