RPAC Boys Basketball Results as of 2/2



This past week the RPAC Basketball Tournament was in full force so we were running around attending those game. We had an excellent tournament, and a new champion was crowned. To read Tuesday's action from the Tournament, click here, Friday's games here, and Saturday's here.


Now, Let's check out the blog.


Alma


A big week for the Alma Cardinals. They competed in the RPAC Tournament and won it as the #1 seed. On Tuesday, they beat #5 seed in the East Hi-Line. Alma won 47-30. Tucker Biskup scored 14, Zavier Mitchell had 12 rebounds, and Grady Faimon had 13 points and 12 points.


In the East finals, the Cardinals played #2 seed Bertrand. The Cardinals won 54-38. Mitchell had 22 points and 12 rebounds. Isaiah Neal scored 13 points and had six rebounds.


In the RPAC Championships, the Cardinals played #2 seed in the West, Dundy County Stratton. It was an awesome game in which both teams competed hard. Alma ended up winning 61-52. Biskup had 21 points, Mitchell had 17, and Faimon had 10.


This is Alma's first ever Boys Basketball RPAC Title. Alma is 17-2 and will play Southern Valley on Friday on the road.





Arapahoe


Arapahoe played in the consolation bracket of the RPAC Tournament. They were the #8 seed and played #4 seed Medicine Valley. Arapahoe dropped the game by a final of 47-39. Eli Shafer was excellent, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Grayson Koller had nine points and eight boards. Will Cacy had five points and 12 rebounds.


Arapahoe is 1-17 and will play at Brady on Friday and host Hitchcock County on Saturday.






Bertrand


The Vikings were the #2 seed in the East and faced a trio of teams. First, they played #6 seed Southwest and won big, 72-42. Thunder Nelson scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds, Kayden Hatfield scored 17, Marcus Hernandez had 16 points, and Hunter Nelson had 12.


Then, in the East Finals, Bertrand played #1 seed Alma. The Vikings fell 54-38. Hernandez had 16 points and Thunder Nelson scored 10.


Bertrand played in the Consolation Game on Saturday against the #4 seed from the West, Paxton. The Vikings won, 53-38. Marcus Hernandez scored 18 points and had seven boards, Hunter Nelson scored eight points and had 10 rebounds, and Thunder Nelson had 16 points and 10 rebounds.


Bertrand has won 10 of their last 11 games and is now 15-5 this season. They will play at home versus Medicine Valley on Friday.


Cambridge


Cambridge competed in the consolation bracket of the RPAC Tournament. Cambridge, the #3 seed played #7 seed Southern Valley. It was a close game, and it was Southern Valley who won 51-49. Brady Ahlemeyer scored 16 points and had eight rebounds. Hodge Raburn scored 14 points.


Cambridge is now 8-8 and will play Hi-Line at home on Thursday and at St. Pat's on Saturday.


Dundy County Stratton


The Tigers had a nice week in the RPAC Tournament and ended up as the runner-up this season. DCS played #3 seed Wallace on Tuesday and won 65-40. Lane Bybee had 18 points and eight rebounds, Ethan Latta had 15 points and seven rebounds, and August Shaw had 13 points.


In the West Finals, #2 seed DCS faced #4 seed Paxton. DCS won this physical battle, 48-37. Bybee had another nice game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ethan Latta had a double-double, too, with 16 points and 10 rebounds.


In the Championship game at the Graff Events Center in McCook, #1 seed Alma and the Tigers battled. Alma got the win 61-52. Bybee had a double-double again with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Latta had 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.


DCS is 13-4 and will host Southwest on Tuesday and go to Cozad on Saturday.





Hi-Line


Hi-Line was the #5 seed on the East side of the RPAC Basketball Tournament. They played #1 seed Alma in the second round and dropped the game 47-30. Zach Whittaker had nine points, and Dawson Ruda had eight.


Hi-Line then faced #6 Southwest in the consolation bracket and lost 50-45. Brody Difenbaugh scored 14 and Whittaker had 11. Hi-Line is 7-11 and will be at Hi-Line on Tuesday and at Cambridge on Thursday.


Hitchcock County


The Falcons were the #1 seed in the West of the RPAC Tournament and ended last week going 1-1. In the West semifinals, they played #4 seed Paxton. The Falcons dropped the close matchup, 51-48. Then, in their consolation game against #3 seed against Wallace, they won 52-50.


The Falcons are 12-4 and will play at home versus Maywood Hayes Center on Friday and at Arapahoe on Saturday.







Maxwell


The Wildcats had two more games in the consolation bracket of the RPAC Tournament. Maxwell, the #6 seed in the West, played #7 seed Sutherland on Tuesday. The Wildcats won 52-44. Cole Huffman and Jesse Reyes each had 12 points. Joaquin Vega had 10 points.


On Friday, Maxwell played #5 seed Maywood-Hayes Center. The Wolves won the game 58-45. Reyes led the Wildcats with 23 points. Vega had eight. Maxwell is now 5-13 and will play Perkins County on Tuesday and at Wallace on Friday.


Maywood-Hayes Center


The Wolves were the #5 seed on the West side of the RPAC Tournament. They played in the consolation bracket of the of the tourney last week and went 2-0. First, they beat #8 Wauneta-Palisade 59-34. Jaxson Anders had 13 points, and Kody Schwenk had 10 points.


The Wolves then played #6 Maxwell, and MHC won 58-45. Kade Broz scored 18 points, Keenan Richards scored 11, Grady Erickson scored 11, and Jaxson Anders scored 11. MHC is now 12-7 and will play Mullen on Monday, Hershey on Thursday, and at Hitchcock County on Friday.





Medicine Valley


The Raiders played in the consolation bracket of the RPAC East Tournament and went 2-0. The #4 Raiders first beat #8 Arapahoe 47-39. Medicine Valley was led by Brody Senff's 15 points, and Mason Roblee had eight.


The Raiders faced #7 Southern Valley on Friday and won 61-38. Senff had 21 points, Tyce Pate scored 12, and Roblee had 13. Senff grabbed 16 rebounds, too.


Medicine Valley is now 9-7 and will play Hi-Line on Tuesday, Wauneta-Palisade on Thursday, and at Bertrand on Friday.


Paxton


The Tigers were the #4 seed on the West side and made it to the Consolation Game of the RPAC Tournament. Paxton first played #1 seed Hitchcock County the Tigers won 51-48. Tanner Hebblethwaite had 25 points, Maddex McConnell had nine, and Jasper Brewster had eight.


Paxton then faced #2 seed DCS in the West Finals and fell 48-37. McConnell had nine points, Noah Coppersmith had eight, and Jasper Brewster had seven. Following that game, the Tigers played the #2 seed on the East side, Bertrand. The Tigers fell in the matchup and took 4th place. The final score was 53-38.


Tanner Hebblethwaite had 24 points and nine rebounds. Paxton is now 11-6 and will play at Sandhills Valley on Friday and then home versus South Platte on Saturday.


Southern Valley


The Eagles played two games in the consolation bracket of the RPAC East this past week. The #7 seeded Eagles played #3 seed Cambridge and won a nail-biter 51-49. Then, the Eagles played #4 seed Medicine Valley on Friday and lost 61-38.


Southern Valley is 4-14 and will play on Friday versus Alma, and then they will be at South Loup on Saturday.






Southwest


The Roughriders had two games this past week and split the matchups in the RPAC Tournament. The #6 seed Roughriders played #2 in the East Bertrand in the second round. Southwest fell, 72-42. Houston Billeter scored 17 points, Trenton Williams and Deric Kelley each had six points.


Then Southwest played in the consolation bracket against #5 Hi-Line. Southwest won the game 50-45. Billeter had 29 points and eight boards, and Jacob Barber had 10 points.


Southwest is 7-10 and will play at Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday and Perkins County on Thursday.


Sutherland


The Sailors played in one consolation game of the RPAC West Side of the Tournament last week. Sutherland was the #7 seed and played #6 seed Maxwell. The Sailors lost, 52-44. Mason Mortimer scored 11 and Jackson Saner had 10 points and eight rebounds.


Sutherland is now 2-13 and will play Garden County on Tuesday and go to Wauneta-Palisade on Friday.





Wallace


Wallace was the #3 seed in the RPAC West, played two games last week and dropped them both in the tourney. First, they played DCS, the #2 seed and fell 65-40. Then, they played the #1 seed Hitchcock County and lost 52-40.


Wallace is now 11-7 and will be at Brady on Tuesday and at home versus Maxwell on Friday.



Wauneta-Palisade


Wauneta-Palisade played one game in the RPAC Tournament last week. The #8 Broncos played #5 seed Maywood-Hayes Center and lost 59-34. Nathan Hiett had nine points, Greydan Sutherland had seven, and Kaden Dorn had six.


The Broncos are 1-15 and will be at Medicine Valley on Thursday and host Sutherland on Friday.
