Alma didn't have a game last week but will host Blue Hill on Tuesday, this is a make-up game from the weather on December 8th. On Thursday the Cardinals will host Franklin and on Saturday they will play Elgin Public/Pope John at Kearney High.
Arapahoe hosted a holiday tournament this past week and opened the play with Wauneta-Palisade. The Broncos jumped to a 22-12 lead but the Warriors were able to outscore them in the final three quarters, 17-15, 11-10, and 14-13, but the deficit was too much as Wauneta-Palisade won 60-54. The Warriors were led by Berkley Warner with 16 points, eight steals, and eight rebounds while Emerson Swanson also contributed with 14 points. In the consolation bracket, Arapahoe took on Blue Hill and struggled to convert and totaled 21 turnovers. The Bobcats beat the Warriors, 53-29. Swanson led the way with 13 points. Arapahoe is now 3-7 on the season and will travel to Maxwell on Tuesday and will travel to Medicine Valley on Friday.
Bertrand took part in the Elm Creek Holiday Tournament last week and battled with Gibbon first. The Vikings jumped to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter and continued to extend their lead to an eventual 51-20 victory. Bertrand was led by Libby Kugler with 10 points and nine rebounds as well as Katelyn Evans with 10 points. Emma Brown also had a nice all-around game with seven points, 14 rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and two assists. In the championship game, it was a rematch against Elm Creek. Bertrand fell behind 10-4 in the first quarter but outscored the Buffalo 14-10 in the second to cut the deficit and make the score 20-18. Elm Creek outscored the Vikings 31-19 in the second half to win 51-39. Bertrand is now 1-6 on the year and will travel to Wilcox-Hildreth on Tuesday, host Southern Valley on Friday, and travel to South Loup on Saturday.
Cambridge hosted their Holiday Tournament this week and took on Dundy County. Cambridge took the lead and never looked back as they defeated the Tigers, 50-30. The Trojans were led by Erin Johnson with 20 points and Brylyn Springer with 18 points. In the championship game, it was a match-up with Maywood-Hayes Center. It was a slow start for the Trojans and they struggled to get things going against the Wolves as they fell 63-32. Johnson led the way with eight points while Leah Downer contributed with seven points. Cambridge is now 5-5 on the season and will travel to Norton, KS on Tuesday and will host Southwest on Friday.
Dundy County Stratton traveled to Cambridge for a Holiday Tournament and began the tournament with Cambridge. Against the Trojans, the Tigers hung tight in the first quarter as they fell behind 14-11 but after that, they struggled to get things to convert. Cambridge defeated the Tigers, 50-30. In the consolation match with Crawford, it looked like Dundy County Stratton was going to dominate as after the first quarter they held a 13-3 lead. The Rams battled back in the second quarter to cut the Tiger's lead to 21-19. It was a tight third quarter and in the fourth Crawford put their foot to the floor to eventually defeat the Tigers, 44-41. Dundy County Stratton is 0-8 on the year and will travel to Chase County on Tuesday, Alliance on Friday, and will host Wray, CO on Saturday.
Hitchcock County traveled to Brady last week to take on Loomis during the Brady Holiday Tournament. It was a back-and-forth match as the Wolves and the Falcons battled. Hitchcock County had a 20-15 lead as they went into the half. Loomis battled back to force overtime as the score was knotted at 38 after four quarters. In the overtime period, the Wolves outscored the Falcons 9-6 for a 47-44 victory. Byanka Tyan led the way with 13 points. In the consolation match with Brady, the Falcons were tied at seven after the first period of play but went into halftime trailing the Eagled 14-9. Hitchcock County came out of the half and added 13 points while holding Brady scoreless in the third period. That turned out to be a difference maker as Brady was able to put up 14 points in the final period but the Falcons had built a big enough lead and managed to outscore them in the fourth period with 18 points to win the game 40-28. Raegan Hagan put up 18 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals while Tyan posted 11 points. Hitchcock County is now 2-7 on the season and will host Southwest on Tuesday and will travel to Wauneta-Palisade on Friday.
Maxwell didn't have a contest last week but will pick up action again when Arapahoe comes to town on Tuesday, host Hershey on Friday, and travel to Overton on Saturday.
Maywood-Hayes Center traveled to Cambridge this last week for a Holiday Tournament. They opened the tournament with Crawford and the Wolves absolutely dominated that match-up. At half the score was 34-7. Halftime didn't slow down Maywood-Hayes Center as they outscored the Rams 26-9 for a final score of 60-16. Olivia Hansen led the way with 13 points. In the championship game, the Wolves took on Cambridge. Maywood-Hayes Center jumped out to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter and never let up as they defeated the Trojans 63-32. Ashlin Broz led the way with 15 points while Hansen added 14 points and Karissa Stengel added 11 points. The Wolves remain unbeaten with a record of 10-0 and will host Hi-Line on Tuesday, Sandhills Valley on Thursday, and travel to Paxton on Friday.
Medicine Valley was off last week and will resume action on Tuesday when they travel to take on Wallace and will host Arapahoe Friday.
Paxton was off during the break and will resume action on Friday evening when they will host Maywood-Hayes Center.
Southern Valley had the week off and will resume action on Tuesday when Franklin comes to town and will travel to Bertrand on Friday.
Southwest didn't have a match-up this last week but they are back in action on Tuesday as they hit the road to take on Hitchcock County, Cambridge on Friday, and host Wauneta-Palisade on Saturday.
Wallace took part in the Perkins County Holiday Tournament last week. They opened the tournament with an overtime thriller with Leyton. It went back and forth but ultimately, it was Leyton who defeated Wallace, 48-43. The Wildcats were led by Kendyl Flaming with 16 points and 14 rebounds while Reagan Pelster added 12 points and six rebounds. In the consolation match with South Platte, it was a tight and evenly matched game as it came down to the wire but Wallace came up short as they lost, 56-55. Karlie Finley led the way with 20 points while Dajana Garrison added 12 points and Kaley Sauser added 10 points. Wallace is back in action on Tuesday when they host Medicine Valley, travel to Arthur County on Friday, and host Mullen on Saturday.
Wauneta-Palisade traveled to Arapahoe for a holiday tournament last week. In their first game of the tournament, the Broncos took on Arapahoe. Wauneta-Palisade jumped out to an early lead and extended it until they defeated the Warriors, 60-54. In the championship game, the Broncos took on North Platte St. Pat's. The final score for that game was 66-53. Wauneta-Palisade is now 6-3 on the year and will host Hitchcock County on Friday and travel to Southwest on Saturday.
