Round two of the RPAC Basketball Tournament concluded tonight. Read below to find the results and an updated bracket.
The west was hosted by Hitchcock County and games were held in Trenton.
In the first game of the evening, it was #6 Dundy County Stratton and #7 Maxwell. Dundy County Stratton got out to the early lead and held off a run by Maxwell in the final quarter and won 44-37. Maxwell has completed their run in the tournament and the Tigers advance to take on #4 Wallace on Thursday at 4:15 P.M. in Paxton.
The next game featured #1 Maywood-Hayes Center and #5 Hitchcock County. The Wolves dominated and defeated the Falcons, 65-23. Olivia Hansen had 17 points and six rebounds to lead the Wolves, Karissa Stengel added 15 points, and Ashlin Broz tallied 11 points and six steals. Reagan Hagan led the Falcons with 10 points. Hitchcock County will play #2 Paxton on Thursday at 6:00 P.M. in Paxton and Maywood-Hayes Center advances to take on #3 Wauneta-Palisade at 7:45 P.M.
The final game from Trenton featured #2 Paxton and #3 Wauneta-Palisade. From the start Paxton trailed the Broncos and couldn't gain enough momentum to overtake them. Wauneta-Palisade defeated Paxton 59-40. Cali Cox led the way for the Broncos with 19 points while Peyton Cox added 13 points and 19 rebounds, additionally, Chloe Steno and GraCee Goings added 11 points each. Jacelyn Jorgensen and Elle Fote each posted 12 points for the Tigers. Paxton will play #5 Hitchcock County at 4:15 P.M. on Thursday in Paxton and #3 Wauneta-Palisade will take on #1 Maywood-Hayes Center at 7:45 P.M.
The East was hosted by Medicine Valley and games were held in Curtis.
The initial game featured #6 Medicine Valley and #7 Bertrand. The Raiders took the lead early and extended it to an eventual victory of 38-24. Stella Heapy lead the way with 19 points while Remmi Stout added 11 points. Medicine Valley will advance to take on #5 Arapahoe at 4:15 P.M. on Thursday in Bertrand while Bertrand's play in the tournament has come to an end.
The next game featured #1 Alma and #4 Southwest. Alma struggled to get things to click early on but made a run at the end of the game but it wasn't enough as the Roughriders defeated the Cardinals, 57-44. Addison Siebels had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals while Riley Scott added 12 points. For the Roughriders, Caylin Barnett led the way with 24 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Bailey Truksa tallied 12 points while Allison VanPelt also contributed with 10 points. Alma will play #3 Cambridge on Thursday at 6:00 P.M. in Bertrand while Southwest will advance to take on #2 Southern Valley at 7:45 P.M.
The final game was #2 Southern Valley and #3 Cambridge. It was a dogfight but the Eagles were just too much for the Trojans as they won, 59-48. Ann Bose paced the Eagles with 27 points while Brecklyn Hammond tallied 11 points and Adi Hunt had 10 points. For the Trojans, Erin Johnson led the way with 15 points, Breelle Miller had 12 points, and Jacey Kent had 11 points. Cambridge will play #1 Alma on Thursday in Bertrand at 6:00 P.M. while Southern Valley advances to take on #4 Southwest at 7:45 P.M.
