Basketball season is back in full swing, with most teams back on the court last week. Winter weather moved into the area over the weekend, causing many postponements. Check out the blog for more!
Alma
Alma took the court for the first time following the moratorium on Friday when they traveled to Medicine Valley. Alma defeated the Raiders 71-14. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, and you can read more about this game by clicking here.
Alma hosted Superior on Saturday for a 9:00 A.M. tip due to the weather that was moving in. The Cardinals fell 53-34. Tierston Moore had nine points and 12 rebounds; Kamri Neal had six points; and Harper Fennel had six points.
Alma is 6-3 and will host Northern Valley, KS on Tuesday, Franklin on Thursday, and travel to Axtell on Saturday.
Arapahoe
Arapahoe had the week off last week and will resume action on Tuesday when they travel to Maxwell, travel to Medicine Valley on Friday, and host Southern Valley on Saturday.
Bertrand
The Vikings traveled to the Elm Creek Holiday Tournament on Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday, Bertrand defeated Gibbon 54-23 to advance to the championship game. The Vikings posted 20 steals in the game as a team. Brooklyn Evans had 14 points and five steals; Addison Andersen had 13 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, and two steals; Livia Philips had 11 points, four rebounds, and four steals; Shelby Schoene had five points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and four steals; and Katelyn Evans had five points and three steals.
In Tuesday's championship game against the host, Elm Creek, Bertrand fell 58-18. B. Evans had eight points, two rebounds, and four steals, and Addison Andersen had six points, three rebounds, and five rebounds.
On Friday, Bertrand Wauneta-Palisade traveled to town and it was a thriller as the game went to overtime to determine the winner. The Broncos jumped out and took the first-quarter lead at 12-8. Bertrand had a strong second quarter, outscoring Wauneta-Palisade 12-2 to head to the locker rooms with a 20-14 lead. It was a pretty strong third quarter for both teams, but Bertrand remained in the lead as they went into the fourth quarter, 29-25. The Broncos evened the game up at 43-43 to force overtime. Bertrand was able to edge out Wauneta-Palisade to snag the 51-49 win. Andersen had 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and six steals; B. Evans had nine points, four rebounds, and four assists; K. Evans had eight points and five rebounds; and Philips had eight points and three rebounds.
Bertrand is now 5-5 on the year and will travel to Wilcox-Hildreth on Tuesday, host Southern Valley on Thursday, and travel to South Loup on Saturday.
Cambridge
Cambridge traveled to Maywood-Hayes Center on Friday to take on the Wolves and lost 59-14.
Cambridge was supposed to host Paxton on Saturday, but the weather forced a postponement and then a cancellation.
Cambridge is 3-6 on the year and will host Southwest on Friday, an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup.
Dundy County Stratton
The Tigers were off last week and will return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to Chase County.
Hi-Line
Hi-Line had the week off last week and will resume action on Tuesday when they travel to Maywood-Hayes Center and SEM on Thursday.
Hitchcock County
The Falcons traveled to Anselmo-Merna on Friday, but Hitchcock County fell to the Coyotes 52-40. Madysen Carlson posted 18 points and 12 rebounds; Kaiah Johnson had six points; and Raegan Hagan had five points and two rebounds.
Hitchcock County is 3-4 and will host Southern Valley on Monday, Southwest on Tuesday, and travel to Wauneta-Palisade on Friday.
Maxwell
The Wildcats had the week off last week and will take the court again on Tuesday when they host Arapahoe, Friday when they host Hershey, and then they will travel to Overton on Saturday.
Maywood-Hayes Center
Maywood-Hayes Center hosted Cambridge on Friday and ran away with a 59-14 win. The Wolves had 19 steals in the game. Blayklee Farr posted 19 points, five rebounds, and three steals; Caylie Softley had 13 points five rebounds, and seven steals; Reagan Stengel had 10 points; and Karissa Stengel had six points and three steals.
The Wolves were scheduled to take on Mullen on Saturday but were called off until they could find a makeup date due to the winter weather.
MHC is 9-1 and will host Hi-Line on Tuesday, travel to Paxton on Friday, and will take on Shelton on Saturday at Kearney High as part of the Nebraska Girls Showcase.
Medicine Valley

Paxton
Paxton hosted their Holiday Triangular and hosted Garden County on Tuesday. They defeated the Eagles 53-30. Ella Fote had 12 points and four rebounds; Jordan Clouse had 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals; and Reece Glinn had eight points and six rebounds.
Paxton was supposed to travel to Cambridge on Saturday, but the weather forced a postponement. This game will now be played on Monday.
The Tigers are 5-3 and will travel to Cambridge on Monday, Leyton on Thursday, and host Maywood-Hayes Center on Friday.
Southwest
Southwest hosted Franklin on Friday and cruised to a 50-26 win while tallying 23 steals as a team. Anastasia Gallegos had 19 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and seven steals; Aspen Billeter had 10 points and six steals; Kyra Nelms had 10 points, eight rebounds, and three assists; and Atleigh Nelms added seven points and three steals.
The Roughriders were supposed to host Southern Valley on Saturday but were forced to reschedule due to the weather.
Southwest is 7-1 on the year and will travel to Hitchcock County on Tuesday, Cambridge on Friday, and host Wauneta-Palisade on Saturday.
Southern Valley
The Eagles were supposed to travel to Southwest on Saturday, but they were forced to postpone due to the weather, which gave Southern Valley an unexpected week off. Southern Valley will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Hitchcock County, Bertrand on Thursday, and Arapahoe on Saturday.
Sutherland
Sutherland had another week off but will be back on the court on Tuesday when they host Hyannis, travel to Sandhills/Thedford on Friday, and host Perkins County on Saturday.
Wallace
Wallace took part in the Perkins County Holiday Tournament, which was held on Tuesday and Thursday.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats took on Mitchell and lost 65-25.
On Thursday, Wallace was defeated by Perkins County 68-31.
Wallace is 3-6 and will host Medicine Valley on Tuesday, travel to Arthur County on Friday, and host Mullen on Saturday.
Wauneta-Palisade
