Another week of basketball is in the books, and it was another busy week. The Cattle Trail tournament took place last week and wrapped up on Saturday, and it involved several RPAC schools. Check out all the results from last week in the blog.
Alma
On Tuesday, The Cardinals traveled to Elm Creek and suffered their first season loss, 53-49. Kamryn Scott had 14 points and five assists; Tierston Moore had eight points and 11 rebounds; and Kamri Neal had eight points, four rebounds, and four steals.
Blue Hill came to town on Thursday, and the Cardinals started fast and never let up, winning 41-26. Scott had 16 points, Neal had eight points, and Chayse Molzahn had seven points and 10 rebounds.
Alma also hosted Wilcox-Hildreth on Friday, and after trailing 13-11 after the first quarter, Alma found their groove and won 35-30 over the Falcons. Scott had 12 points, three assists, and three steals, and Chayse Molzahn had eight points and three rebounds.
Alma is now 4-1 on the season and will travel to Southwest on Tuesday and host Red Cloud on Saturday to wrap up their schedule before the moratorium.
Arapahoe
Arapahoe participated in the Cattle Trail Tournament last week and started their tournament run against Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday. The Warriors trailed 11-7 after the first quarter and couldn't get past the high-pressure defense from the Tigers. Sage Larson led the Warriors with eight points; Clara Hilker had six points; Emma Strand had five points and three rebounds; and Desi Farner led the Warriors on the boards with seven rebounds.
On Friday, the Warriors faced Wauneta-Palisade. After trailing 11-9 after the first quarter, Arapahoe put together a solid second quarter, outscoring the Broncos 23-9, to take the lead as they went to halftime. In another 20-point quarter coming out of the half, the Warriors ran away with the 60-47 win. Hilker had 16 points and six rebounds; Sawyer Shafer had 13 points; Cadence Carpenter had eight points, 14 rebounds, and three steals; and Strand added nine points, four rebounds, and six steals.
Arapahoe played Hitchcock County on Saturday for fifth place. The Warriors defeated the Falcons 49-26. Hilker scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds, Suttyn Shafer scored nine points, and Taytum Roskop grabbed eight rebounds.
The Warriors are 4-1 on the season and will host Northern Valley, KS, on Tuesday, Wilcox-Hildreth on Thursday, and travel to Southwest on Friday.
Bertrand
The Vikings hosted Pleasanton on Friday, and the Vikings fell 49-26 to the Bulldogs. Addison Andersen had 17 points, eight rebounds, and three steals for the Vikings.
On Saturday, Loomis traveled to town, and the Vikings won the rivalry game 45-34. Andersen had 10 points, 11 rebounds, and eight steals; Livia Philips had 10 points and six rebounds; Adrian Sand had nine points, three assists, and three rebounds; and Brooklyn Evans added eight points and four steals.
Bertrand is 2-2 on the year and will hit the road next week as they will travel to Hi-Line on Tuesday, Elm Creek on Friday, and Blue Hill on Saturday.
Cambridge
Cambridge traveled to take on Southern Valley. The Trojans struggled to find the bottom of the net in the first quarter, trailing 25-0. However, they struggled again for the remainder of the game, as the Eagles ran away with the 55-16 win. Aspen Webb led Cambridge with 11 points, and Mallory Springer led the team on the boards with 10 rebounds.
On Friday, Cambridge hosted South Loup. The Trojans earned their first win of the season, and it was by a large margin, 54-20. Springer had 18 points and 10 rebounds; Webb had 10 points and five steals; Joslyn Holtze had nine points, nine rebounds, and three steals; and Chloe Gooden had eight points, four assists, and three steals.
Cambridge is 1-3 on the season. On Tuesday, they will travel to Loomis, and on Thursday, they will host Cozad.
Dundy County Stratton
On Tuesday, the Tigers faced Arapahoe in the first round of the Cattle Trail Tournament and took care of business, winning 42-26. Clara Spargo had 17 points, five rebounds, and three blocks; Ava Lutz had 13 points, seven rebounds, and three steals; and Lexie Yrkoski led the team with six of their 15 steals.
On Friday, DCS faced Southwest in the next round of the Cattle Trail. The Tigers lost to the Roughriders, 32-23. Abi Spargo led the team with nine points, eight rebounds, and four steals; and C. Spargo had five points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
On Saturday, the Tigers faced Maywood-Hayes Center, and they fell 44-29.
The Tigers are now 3-2 and will host Wauneta-Palisade on Tuesday and Perkins County on Saturday.
Hi-Line
On Tuesday, Hi-Line hosted Maxwell and fell to the Wildcats, 65-39. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, and you can read more about that game by clicking here.
On Thursday, the Bulls traveled to take on the Eagles of Southern Valley. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, and you can read more about that game by clicking here.
Hi-Line hosted Gothenburg on Saturday and Gothenburg took the 64-28 win over the Bulls. Shelby Jurjens had eight points and six rebounds, and Lauryn Ruda had six points, four rebounds, and two steals.
The Bulls are 0-5 and will host Bertrand on Tuesday, Franklin on Thursday, and Gibbon on Friday.
Hitchcock County
On Tuesday, the Falcons took on Decatur Community, KS, in the first round of the Cattle Trail Tournament. Hitchcock County battled but fell to the Red Devils 34-21. Raegan Hagan had nine points, six rebounds, and five steals, and Madysen Carlson had six points and nine rebounds.
Hitchcock County faced Medicine Valley on Friday. The Falcons controlled the game, earning the 48-22 win. Carlson scored 13 points and eight rebounds, and Riley Hagan scored 10 points and six steals.
On Saturday, Hitchcock County fell to Arapahoe, 49-26. Kaiah Johnson had nine points, five rebounds, and two steals; Raegan Hagan had eight points and four rebounds; and Riley Hagan had six of the Falcons 12 steals.
The Falcons are now 2-2 and will host Medicine Valley on Thursday and travel to Rawlins County, KS, on Friday.
Maxwell
Maxwell traveled to Hi-Line on Tuesday and went home with the 65-39 win. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, and you can read more about that game by clicking here.
The Wildcats hosted North Platte St. Pat's on Thursday. Maxwell led the Irish 13-10 after the first quarter, but a slow second quarter put the Wildcats behind. They fought in the second half but came up short, 50-46. Madelyn Flock had 17 points; Emory Christensen had 10 points and 12 rebounds; and Jenna Miller had 10 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
Maxwell is 3-1 and will host Brady on Tuesday and travel to Paxton on Friday.
Maywood-Hayes Center
The Wolves took on Medicine Valley for Tuesday's first game of the Cattle Trail Tournament. MHC ran away with the 70-16 win over the Raiders. The Wolves had 30 steals in the game. Kesli Cox had 13 points, four rebounds, and four steals; Reagan Stengel had 11 points; Caylie Softley had 11 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals; Karissa Stengel had 10 points, four assists, and nine steals; and Blayklee Farr had eight points, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
On Friday, the Wolves faced Decatur Community, KS, and lost 35-25. K. Stengel had nine points and four rebounds, and Softley had eight points, nine rebounds, and five steals.
On Saturday, faced Dundy County Stratton for 3rd and 4th place. MHC won 44-29. K. Stengel had 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals, and Softley had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals.
MHC is 4-1 and will host Sutherland on Tuesday and travel to Brady on Thursday.
Medicine Valley
On Tuesday, the Raiders played Maywood-Hayes Center in their first game of the Cattle Trail Tournament and fell to the Wolves, 70-16. Remmi Stout had six points, seven rebounds, and four blocks; Haylie Gustafson had six points and five rebounds; and Oakley Stout was big on the boards, grabbing 12 rebounds.
Medicine Valley faced Hitchcock County on Friday. Medicine Valley lost to the Falcons 48-22. R. Stout had six points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and five blocks.
On Saturday, the Raiders faced Wauneta-Palisade. The Broncos took the 36-25 win over Medicine Valley. R. Stout had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Raiders are 0-5 and will travel to Hitchcock County on Thursday and host South Loup on Friday.
Paxton
Paxton traveled to Brady on Friday, and the Tigers fell 40-34. Ella Fote led the Tigers with nine points and five rebounds; Emmalee Nicholson had eight points, five rebounds, and three steals; and Jaleigh Hansen had six points, four rebounds, and three steals.
On Saturday, the Tigers traveled to take on Potter-Dix and came home with a 66-30 win. Paxton had 22 steals in the game. Hansen led the team with 18 points, three assists, and four steals; Jordan Clouse had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals; and Fote added seven points, three rebounds, and four steals.
Paxton is 2-2 and will host Perkins County on Tuesday and Maxwell on Friday.
Southern Valley
The Eagles hosted Cambridge on Tuesday, earning their first win of the year with a 55-16 victory. Tori Bose had 19 points, and Adi Hunt had 16 points.

On Saturday, Southern Valley traveled to Overton and dominated the Eagles, winning 55-18. Hunt had 15 points, eight steals, and four assists; Bose had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks; and Natalee Holste had 10 points.
The Eagles are 2-2 and will host Norton, KS, on Tuesday, travel to Ravenna on Thursday, and host Loomis on Saturday.
Southwest
Southwest faced Wauneta-Palisade on Tuesday to begin their run in the Cattle Trail Tournament. The Roughriders got the 57-39 win over the Broncos. Aspen Billeter had 19 points, 13 rebounds, and five steals; Anastasia Gallegos had 16 points, seven rebounds, and six steals.
On Friday, the Roughriders took on Dundy County Stratton. Southwest led from the start and won the game 32-23. Krya Nelms had 12 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks; and Billeter had seven points, seven rebounds, and five steals.
On Saturday, the Roughriders faced Decatur Community, KS, in the championship game. Southwest earned the Cattle Trail Tournament Champion title, 51-44.
Southwest is 4-1 and will host Alma on Tuesday and Arapahoe on Friday.
Sutherland
The Sailors hosted Brady on Tuesday and were defeated by the Eagles 53-25. Mahala Vasquez had 16 points, three rebounds, and two steals, and Eliana Dyer had eight points and six rebounds.
Sutherland traveled to Sandhills Valley on Thursday and earned their first win of the season, 50-44. Gracyn Elfeldt had 16 points and nine rebounds; Vasquez had 16 points, seven assists, and seven steals, and Addisyn Gunderson added nine points.
On Saturday, Sutherland hosted South Platte on Saturday and came up short, 43-22.
The Sailors are 1-4 and will travel to Maywood-Hayes Center on Tuesday, host Wallace on Thursday, and host Elba on Saturday.
Wallace
Wallace traveled to Sandhills/Thedford on Thursday and lost 47-19.
On Saturday, Wallace hosted Hyannis and earned the 51-26 win.
The Wildcats are 2-3 on the season and will travel to Sutherland on Thursday and Potter-Dix on Saturday.
Wauneta-Palisade
On Tuesday, Wauneta-Palisade fell to Southwest in their first game of the Cattle Trail Tournament. The Broncos lost to the Roughriders, 57-39. Mesa Cox had 15 points and four steals; Kamryn Fanning had seven points; and Izzy Stehno led the team with eight rebounds.
On Friday, the Broncos faced Arapahoe. Wauneta-Palisade led after the first quarter, 11-9, but the Warriors found a new gear in the second quarter, outscoring them 23-9. Arapahoe went on to win the game, 60-47.
On Saturday Wauneta-Palisade defeated Medicine Valley in the final game of the Cattle Trail Tournament, 36-25.
Wauneta-Palisade is now 3-2 and will travel to Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday and South Platte on Friday.
