RPAC Girls Basketball Results as of 12/29

The five-day moratorium is over, and some teams have begun their holiday tournaments while others are off until the new year. Check out how this week played out for RPAC teams.



Alma

Alma didn't have any games last week and is off until they travel to Medicine Valley on January 3rd and host Superior on January 4th.


Arapahoe

Arapahoe hosted the Bob Braithwait Holiday Tournament on the 27th and 28th.


Arapahoe faced Franklin on Friday, jumped out to an 18-3 lead after the first quarter, and ran away with the 52-26 win to advance to Saturday's championship. The Warriors had 29 steals in the game. Suttyn Shafer led the team with 17 points and three steals; Sawyer Shafer had nine points, three rebounds, and six steals; Clara Hilker had nine points, three rebounds, and two steals; Sage Larson had three assists and five steals; Cadence Carpenter had nine rebounds and four steals; and Taytum Roskop had five rebounds and four steals.


Against Southern Valley in the championship, Arapahoe had a slow first half, trailing 25-7, but put together a solid third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 15-7. The deficit was too large as the Warriors fell 49-26. Suttyn Shafer had eight points and five steals; Hilker had eight points and three rebounds; Emma Strand had six points and five rebounds; and Roskop added five rebounds.


Arapahoe is 6-4 and is off until they travel to Maxwell on January 7th, Medicine Valley on January 10th, and host Southern Valley on January 11th.



Bertrand

Bertrand was off last week and will resume action during the Elm Creek Holiday Tournament on December 30th and 31st and then host Wauneta-Palisade on January 3rd.


Cambridge

Cambridge traveled to Pleasanton last week for their Holiday Tournament on the 27th and 28th.


Cambridge faced Pleasanton in the first round and lost to the Bulldogs, 43-33.


In the consolation match on the 28th, Cambridge took on Ravenna and won 47-30.


The Trojans are 3-5 on the season and will be off until they travel to Maywood-Hayes Center on January 3rd and host Paxton on the 4th.


Dundy County Stratton

The Tigers traveled to Axtell for a Holiday Tournament on the 27th and 28th.


In their first game, DCS took on Heartland Lutheran and won 54-30 to advance to the championship.


The championship game against CWC was a tight first quarter as the Tigers led 9-8, but then they got rolling to earn the 34-29 win. Kimberly Escobar had 12 points, seven rebounds, and two steals; Emily Schack had 11 points and six rebounds; and Abi Spargo had 13 rebounds.


DCS is 6-2 on the year and is off until they travel to Chase County on January 7th.


Hi-Line

Hi-Line took on Lawrence-Nelson on Saturday and led the Raiders 28-16 at the half but went cold in the second half while the Raiders got hot. The Bulls lost, 49-41. Olivia Wall had 13 points and six rebounds; Ellaray Koch had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and seven steals; and Bentley Stubbs had nine points, eight rebounds, and five steals.


Hi-Line is 2-7 and is off until January 7th when they travel to Maywood-Hayes Center and January 9th when they travel to SEM.


Hitchcock County

Hitchcock County was off last week and will remain off until they travel to Brady on January 3rd and 4th for their holiday tournament.


Maxwell

Maxwell hosted their holiday tournament on the 27th and 28th last week.


In the tournament's first game, Maxwell defeated Sandhills Valley to advance to the championship game with a score of 62-40. Madelyn Flock had 21 points; Kristyn Cheek had 18 points and 10 rebounds; Emory Christensen had seven points, 11 rebounds, and four assists; and Jenna Miller added seven points, and eight assists.


In the championship game against Brady, Maxwell defeated the Eagles 43-40. According to Maxwell Booster Club's Facebook page, this was the first time in many years that the Wildcats won the Gilson-Pierce Holiday Tournament. Cheek had 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists; Miller had 11 points and five rebounds; and Flock had six points, three rebounds, and four assists.


Maxwell is 5-3 and is off until they host Arapahoe on January 7th, Hershey on January 10th, and travel to Overton on January 14th.



Maywood-Hayes Center

Maywood-Hayes Center resumed action last week when they traveled to Paxton to take on the Tigers in a triangular that runs December 28th, 30th, and 31st.


On Saturday, MHC and Paxton went back and forth for three quarters. In the 3rd quarter, the Wolves outscored the Tigers 23-4 to earn the 56-31 win.


MHC is 7-1 and will resume action on Monday when they take on Garden County at Paxton, host Cambridge on Friday, and Mullen on Saturday.


Medicine Valley

Medicine Valley was off last week and will resume action at home on January 3rd against Alma.


Paxton

Paxton is hosting a triangular that runs December 28th, 30th, and 31st. On Saturday, the Tigers hosted Maywood-Hayes Center. After playing with the Wolves for three quarters, Paxton struggled to convert in the fourth quarter, ultimately costing them the game; they lost 56-31. Emmalee Nicholson had 12 points and seven rebounds; Jaleigh Hansen had four points; and Ella Fote had four points and three rebounds.


Paxton is off on Monday but will resume triangular action on Tuesday against Garden County and then travel to Cambridge on Saturday.



Southern Valley

Southern Valley participated in the Bob Braithwait Holiday Tournament in Arapahoe on the 27th and 28th.


On Friday against Blue Hill, Southern Valley won 40-18.


In the championship against Arapahoe on Saturday, the Eagles won 49-26.


Southern Valley is 8-2 and will host Southwest on Saturday.


Southwest

Southwest was off last week and will resume action on Friday when they host Franklin and travel to Southern Valley on Saturday.


Sutherland

Sutherland was off last week and will resume action on January 7th at home against Hyannis, travel to Sandhills/Thedford on January 10th, and host Perkins County on January 11th.


Wallace

Wallace was off last week and will resume action on Tuesday and Thursday when participating in the Perkins County Holiday Tournament.



Wauneta-Palisade

Wauneta-Palisade was off last week and will resume action on Friday when they travel to Bertrand.
