RPAC Students Compete in the 2024 NSAA State Journalism Competition in Norfolk on Monday


Cambridge, Southern Valley, and Southwest were all represented at the 2024 NSAA State Journalism competition on Monday, April 22nd in Norfolk. These three schools competed in the Class C division. The RPAC was well represented with these entries. There was even a team that finished as the Class C State Runner-up! Check out the work and results in this blog.

As a team, the Trojans finished in 9th with 58 points.

In the category of Theme Development, the team of Bailee Ahlemeyer, Kamryn McArthur, and Emma Rassmussen placed 8th. You can see their entry here.


In the category of Broadcast Feature Story, Emma Rassmussen and Carson Trompke produced a feature on the Cambridge Speech team. The duo earned the title of State Champion. You can watch their feature story by clicking here.


Southern Valley

The Eagles were named the 2024 NSAA Class C State Runners-Up with 352 points. This was Southern Valley's fifth-straight Runner Up finish.

In the category of In-Depth Newspaper Coverage, "Sportsmanship" was the State Champion. That team consisted of Tori Bose, Adi Hunt, Ashton Kirkendall, Celia Zetterberg, Ellora Whitney, and Ehme Linner. "Traditions" was the State Runner-Up. In the category of Yearbook Theme Development, the team of Celia Zetterberg, Lily Holste, and Ashton Kirkendall placed 5th. You can see their entry here.

Southwest

Southwest placed 13th as a team with 30 points.
