We are halfway through the track season, which is absolutely crazy to think about! We've had great weather so far, which has helped earn great marks. Let's hope that continues as we continue to move through the season! The RPAC was also represented this week at the Kansas Relays; more on that and more in this week's recap blog!

In the 800-meter run, Isaiah Neal of Alma placed 1st with a time of 2:08.06, Barrett Zikmund of Alma placed 3rd with a time of 2:20.97, Josiah Dowell of Southern Valley placed 4th with a time of 2:24.06, Archer Goosic of Alma placed 5th with a time of 2:31.56, and Beau Kerznar of Hi-Line placed 8th with a time of 2:47.71.


In the 1600-meter run, Marcus Hernandez of Bertrand placed 2nd with a time of 5:09.96, Vaughn Fennel of Alma placed 5th with a time of 5:32.83, and Bryson Shriver of Alma placed 7th with a time of 5:39.97.


In the 3200-meter run, Hernandez placed 1st with a time of 11:02.98, Shriver of Alma placed 3rd with a time of 11:57.76, Tayvian Sharp of Alma placed 6th with a time of 13:07.43, and Creston Wagner of Bertrand placed 7th with a time of 14:17.19.



In the 110-meter hurdles, Zavier Mitchell of Alma placed 1st with a time of 15.87, Chase Beitler of Hi-Line placed 4th with a time of 17.14, Traevyn Koch of Hi-Line placed 5th with a time of 18.58, and Trent Schockman of Southern Valley placed 7th with a time of 19.05.


In the 300-meter hurdles, Mitchell of Alma placed 1st with a time of 43.13, Beitler of Hi-Line placed 2nd with a time of 43.49, Koch of Hi-Line placed 4th with a time of 44.98, Isaac Hernandez of Bertrand placed 6th with a time of 46.49, Cole Dean of Hi-Line placed 7th with a time of 48.95, and Schockman of Southern Valley placed 8th with a time of 48.96.


In the 4x100-meter relay, Bertrand placed 3rd with a time of 46.69, which was run by Eric Wood, Rhett Brown, Hatfield, and T. Nelson; and Southern Valley placed 4th with a time of 53.65, which was run by Bennet Jorgensen, Howart, Schockman, and Hayden Lans.


In the 4x400-meter relay, Alma placed 1st iwth a time of 3:46.92, which was run by Fennel, Creighton Lynch, Neal, and Zikmund; Hi-Line placed 3rd with a time of 3:47.61, which was run by Kane Cochrane, Koch, Beitler, and Hecox; and Bertrand placed 4th with a time of 3:53.21, which was run by Wood, Brown, Hatfield, and M. Hernandez.


In the 4x800-meter relay, Alma placed 1st with a time of 8:55.92, which was run by Fennel, Lynch, Neal, and Zikmund; Southern Valley placed 3rd with a time of 9:59.61, which was run by Dowell, Howart, Bryton Stalder, and Lans; and Hi-Line placed 4th with a time of 10:40.56, which was run by B. Kerznar, Salazar, Brecken Hecox, and Brody Diefenbaugh.


In shot put, Ryan Oberg of Hi-Line placed 1st with a throw of 49'2", Rodrigo Estrada of Bertand placed 4th with a throw of 43'5", Ryan Maly of Alma placed 6th with a throw of 41'1", and Spencer Gehrig of Alma placed 7th with a throw of 40'0.5".


In discus, Gehrig of Alma placed 3rd with a toss of 131'8", Oberg of Hi-Line palced 4th with a toss of 129'2", Maly of Alma placed 5th with a toss of 124'5", and Lynch of Alma placed 7th with a toss of 110'10".


In high jump, Herrick of Alma placed 1st with a jump of 6'2", Cochrane of Hi-Line placed 2nd with a jump of 6'0", Vosler of Bertrand placed with a jump of 5'10", Koch of Hi-Line placed 7th with a jump of 5'8", and Goosic of Alma placed 8th with a jump of 5'2".

In the 4x400-meter relay, Sutherland placed 4th with a time of 4:49.65, which was run by Elfeldt, Vasquez, Gunderson, and Maleah Vasquez.


In the 4x800-meter relay, Maxwell placec 5th with a time of 11:04.97, which was run by Benitez, Curtis, Nelson, and Kurri Gosnell; Paxton placed 6th with a time of 11:16.00, which was run by Emma Lake, Jorgensen, Mitchell, and Hanson; and Sutherland placed 7th with a time of 12:04.11, which was run by Maleah Vasquez, Eliana Dyer, Tristin Fleharty, and Addison Arvdal.


In shot put, Reece Glinn of Paxton placed 2nd with a throw of 35'7.5", Emmalee Nicholson of Paxton placed 5th with a throw of 33'3", and Arvdal of Sutherland placed 7th with a throw of 31'5.5".


In discus, Glinn of Paxton placed 1st with a throw of 111'2", and Nicholson of Paxton placed 6th with a throw of 93'10".


In high jump, McConnell of Wallace placed 3rd with a jump of 4'8".


In pole vault, Hansen of Paxton placed 3rd with a vault of 8'0", Eva Crowley of Paxton placed 5th with a vault of 8'0", and in a four-way tie for 7th was Harper, Elfeldt, and Bryer Brown all of Sutherland with a vault of 7'0".


In long jump, Peterson of Paxton placed 4th with a jump of 14'11.5".


In triple jump, Finley of Wallace placed 6th with a jump of 30'4.5".


Kansas Relays, 4-17-4/19

Dundy County Stratton brought a handful of kids to the 102nd Annual Kansas Relays in Lawrence, KS. Marks had to be submitted and accepted to be eligible ot compete at this meet. The top nine high school place winners received awards, and the top nine high school relay event finishers, with four members per team, also received awards.

Representing DCS were as follows:

  • Clara Spargo -- 100-meter dash and 400-meter dash

    • In the 100-meter dash, Spargo ran a time of 12.43.

    • In the 400-meter dash, Spargo ran a time of 57.73 in the prelims to qualify for the finals. In the finals, Spargo placed 6th with a time of 56.89.

  • Abi Spargo -- 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles

    • In the 100-meter hurdles, Spargo ran a time of 15.51.

    • In the 300-meter hurdles, Spargo finished 11th with a time of 45.98.

  • Girls 4x100-meter relay: Kennedy Bailey, Abi Spargo, Emma Baldeh, and Clara Spargo

    • The Tigers ran a time of 50.69.

  • Kennedy Bailey -- shot put and discus

    • In shot put, Bailey placed 2nd with a throw of 43'7.75".

    • In discus, Bailey placed 1st with a throw of 145'9".

  • Laken Wissink -- 100-meter dash

    • Wissink ran a time of 11.04.

  • Boys 4x100-meter relay -- Kevin Garcia, Blaine Aldridge, Ethan Latta, and Laken Wissink

    • The Tigers ran a time of 43.62.

  • Brock Bailey -- shot put and discus

    • In discus, Bailey finished 15th with a throw of 156'5".

    • In shot put, Bailey placed 3rd with a throw of 58'8.5".
