On Wednesday evening last week, the RPAC battled at the New West All-Star Volleyball Classic held in Minden. These All-Star games are all about having fun, but coaches Kim Barnett of Southwest and Lauren Carpenter of Cambridge had their group ready to go.
These matches are set up with the RPAC facing off against the FKC, and then the SWC versus the Lou Platte Conference.
In their matchup against the FKC, the RPAC was able to win in four sets. They started out slightly slow, falling in the first set 25-18. From there though, the RPAC took over winning the next three sets 25-20, 25-19, and 25-14.
Then, the RPAC took on the Lou Platte Conference in the championship, as they beat the SWC in their first match.
This match was set up as a best two-of-three.
The RPAC was able to win in two sets as they took the first set 25-17 and then the second set, 25-18.
In the first set, the RPAC used a steady dose of attacking from Caylin Barnett of Southwest, Olivia Hansen of Maywood-Hayes Center, and Jacey Kent of Cambridge. They took a lead of 18-14 and the Lou Platte Conference team had to take a timeout. The RPAC didn't slow up and secured the win.
In the second set, the RPAC jumped out to a quick lead of 7-2, and never looked back.
Jacey Kent of Cambridge was named the MVP of the night.
