RPAC WRESTLING RESULTS AS OF 2/19

State wrestling took place at the CHI Health Center in Omaha Thursday through Saturday.


Class C

Loomis/Bertrand tied for 49th with 4 points as a team.


Tyson Freeman competed in the 113 pound weight division and in his opening round defeated Derrick Ruzicka of St. Paul by decision, 6-5. He advanced to the quarterfinals and lost to Cashtin Stanek of North Bend Central by fall in 3:09. In the second round of the consolation bracket, Freeman was able to pick up a win to stay alive. He defeated Gavin Gerths of Fairbury by a 12-7 decision. In the third consolation round, Freeman faced off with Yair Santiago of Norfolk Catholic and lost by fall in 2:34 to end his season.


In 120, it was Carter Horner who represented the Wolfkings. In round one he was defeated by Cooper Rea of Milford by fall in 3:01. In the first consolation round, Horner defeated Tanner Kyllo of Arlington by decision, 7-5. In the second consolation round, Jacob Mcgee of Logan View defeated Horner by fall in 5:00 to end his season.


Class D

Hitchcock County finished in 7th place as a team with 64 points, Southern Valley placed 17th with 43 points, Alma placed 19th with 30 points, Cambridge placed 20th with 29 points, Maxwell and Arapahoe had a seven-way tie for 49th with 4 points, Southwest was in a five-way tie for 61st with 1 point, and Dundy County Stratton didn't score any team points.


Alma

In 113, Carter Brandyberry defeated Zach Jeffords of Bridgeport by fall in 1:41. In the quarterfinal round it was a familiar opponent for Brandyberry as he battled Braxton Hammond of Southern Valley and was defeated by fall in 1:44. In the second round of consolation, Hudson Urkoski of High Plains Community defeated Brandyberry by fall in 1:48 to end his season.


Alek Molzahn represented the Cardinals in 170 and he began the tournament with a win over Cyrrus Messersmith of Maxwell by fall in 3:35. In the quarterfinals, Aiden Kuester defeated Molzahn by fall in 1:29. In consolation round two, he won by decision over Jace Rosenkrans of St. Mary's, 4-1. In the third round of consolations, Molzahn won by decision over Aydan Kaps, 7-6. Chase Gracey of Mullen defeated him in the consolation semifinals by fall in 2:58. In the 5th place match, Alek won by decision over Maddox Jones of SEM, 3-1, earning him the 5th place medal to end his season.


In 195, Jeremy Felix opened the first round with a win over James Rolf of GACC by major decision, 14-2. In the quarterfinals, Felix defeated Mason Topp of Windside in a sudden victory. The semifinal round brought a familiar foe in Keegan Shuler of Hitchcock County. Felix was defeated by Shuler by a 6-1 decision. In the consolation semifinals, Jeremy defeated Chase Thomas of Neligh-Oakdale by fall in 4:54 which sent him to the 3rd place match. Beau Wiebelhaus of North Central defeated Felix by major decision, 8-0. Felix finished 4th to end his season.


Arapahoe

Wayne Lee competed in the 120 pound weight class and opened the tournament with a loss Jeffery Forsen of Mullen. In the first consolation round, Owen Vondra defeated Lee by fall in 0:55 to end his season.


Rafe Hill opened his tournament up with a loss in the 152 pound weight class by Trey Schindler of Kimball by fall in 2:57. In the first consolation round, Hill defeated Tye Stanton of Cambridge by fall in 2:01. Mason Noel of Southern Valley defeated Hill in the second round of the consolation brackets by fall in 3:31 to end his season.


Cambridge

In 106, Micah Gerlach opened the tournament with a win over Colter Sinn of Thayer Central by decision, 12-9. In the quarterfinals, Gerlach won in a tie breaker over Levi Russell of High Plains Community. Grady Dempcy of Sutherland defeated Gerlach in the semifinals by fall in 3:01. In the consolation semifinals, he won by fall over Matthew Johnson of Kimball in 3:45. Micah advanced to the 3rd place match where he took on Owen Krafka of Shelby-Rising City where Gerlach was defeated by fall in 4:32 to finish his season with a 4th place finish.


Angel Rodriguez competed in 113 pounds and in his opening round he was defeated by Braxton Hammond of Southern Valley by fall in 5:12. In the first round consolation match, Rodriguez won by fall over Zach Jeffords of Bridgeport in 0:57. In round two of the consolations, he won by major decision over Caelen Wipf, 17-7. Angel won by fall over Kevin Pedraz of Madison in 3:54. The consolation semifinals brought a familiar opponent to the mat for Rodriguez as it was Hammond of Southern Valley again. It was Hammond who defeated Rodriguez by fall in 2:31. In the 5th place match, Blake Devitt of Hitchcock County defeated won by fall over Angel by fall in 2:55 to end his season with a 6th place finish.


In 138, Jacob Corbett competed for the Trojans. In the opening round, Corbett was defeated by fall in 3:09 by Chase Mcgrath of Bridgeport. In the first round of consolations, Corbett lost by fall in 6:00 to Carter Jasnoch of Ravenna to end his season.


Tye Stanton competed in the 152 pound weight class. Stanton lost by decision in the opening round to Jacob Koehn of CLarkson-Leigh. Rafe Hill of Arapahoe defeated Tye by fall in 2:01 in the first round of the consolation brackets to end his season.


In 160, Hunter Perks opened the tournament with a 8-1 decision loss to Wyatt Urkoski of High Plains Community. Perks bounced back in the first round of consolations with a win by fall over Samuel King of Ravenna in 3:30. He kept that momentum going in the second round of consolations with a sudden victory over Taaron Lavicky of Axtell. In the third round of consolations, Jd Adam of Meridian defeated Perks by fall in 4:43 to end his season.


Jordan Ruf competed in the 285 pound weight class and in the opening round, Malachi Wheeler of Nebraska Christian defeated Ruf by fall in 3:11. In the first round of consolation brackets, Zeb Wilde of Sandhills/Thedford won in the ultimate tie breaker, 2-1, to end Ruf's season.


Dundy County Stratton

Blake Emig represented the Tigers in the 195 pound weight class. Mason Topp of Westside defeated Emig in the opening round by fall in 1:05. In the second round of consolations, Emig lost by fall in 1:22 to James Rolf of GACC to end his season.


Hitchcock County

Dylan Kollmorgen competed in 106 for the Falcons and in the opening round he lost to Levi Russell of High Plains Community by fall in 0:47. In the first round of the consolation brackets, Colter Sinn of Thayer Central defeated Kollmorgen by a 6-5 decision to end his season.


In 113, Blake Devitt opened the tournament with Jesse Winberg of Pleasanton and won by decision, 3-0. Tristan Olson of Anselmo-Merna defeated Devitt in the quarterfinals by decision, 10-7. He bounced back in the second round of the consolation brackets and won by fall over Tycin Lampman of Wisner-Pilger in 3:59. In consolation round three, Devitt won by decision over Hudson Urkoski of High Plains Community, 9-3. Hugo Sanchez of Madison defeated Devitt in the consolation semifinals by decision, 8-5. Devitt won by fall over Angel Rodriguez to clinch the 5th place medal to end his season.


In 126, Tanner Mclain began the tournament with a loss by tech fall to Zander Kavan of Aquinas Catholic. In the first round of consolations, Mclain bounced back with a winKyler Carraher of Franklin. Jaxon Smith of Elm Creek ended Tanner's season in the second round of consolations by defeating him via fall in 2:28.


Tanner O`brien competed in 160 pounds and lost his opening round to Trevis Halsey of Elkhorn Valley by a 5-0 decision. O'brien had a nice bounce back win over Keegan Poppe of Wisner-Pilger to stay alive in the first round of consolations. The second round brought Gunner Roberson of Garden County who defeated O'brien by a 2-0 decision ending his season.


In 170, Dalten Hagan medical forfeited his two matches.


Kolyn Gaston opened his 182 pound tournament with a 10-5 decision loss to Adam Oltmer of Aquinas Catholic. In the first round of consolations, Gaston won by fall over Stetson Bottorf of Twin Loup. In round two it was more of the same story as he won by fall over Cameron Schulte of Thayer Central. Round three brought Kolby Houchin of Bayard and Gaston won by fall again. A win in the consolation semifinals over won by fall over Coy Vrbka of Shelby-Rising City advanced him to the 3rd place match with Wyatt Reichenberg of Banner County. Gaston won by fall to finish his season with a 3rd place finish.


In 195, Keegan Shuler opened the tournament with a win by fall over Dawson Doggett of South Loup in 5:27. The quarterfinals brought another win by fall but was over Beau Wiebelhaus of North Central in 0:44. The semifinals brought Jeremy Felix of Alma to the mat and Shuler defeated him by decision, 6-1. In the championship match against Sid Miller of Anselmo-Merna, Shuler lost by a 7-4 decision ending his season with the title of state runner-up.


In 285, Taylor Hubl took the mat for the Falcons and in his opening match won by decision over Tayte Thornton of Anselmo-Merna. Thomas Psota of Ravenna defeated Hubl in the quarterfinals by fall in 5:04. In the second round of the consolations, Zeb Wilde defeated Hubl by a tie breaker.


Maxwell

Ethan Norton competed in 132 for the Wildcats and in his opening round he lost to Lance Russell of High Plains Community by fall in 0:59. The first round of consolation brackets brought Trevor Carraher of Riverside to the mat and Norton lost by a 4-1 decision ending his season.


In 145, Easton Messersmith lost his first round match to Mavrick Hagemann of Elkhorn Valley by fall in 2:41. The first round of consolations brought Mitchell Kelly of Pender and Messersmith fell in 3:51 to end his season.


Cyrrus Messersmith competed in 170 pounds and opened his tournament with a loss to Alek Molzahn of Alma by fall in 3:35. He bounced back in his consolation match as he won by decision over Dylan Pooschke of Overton, 6-5. In the second round of the consolation bracket, Logan Nelson of Eisner-Pilger ended MEssersmith's season with a fall in 2:02.


In 195, Jaycob Young took the mat and Chase Thomas of Neleigh-Oakdale won by fall in 1:08. In the first round of the consolation brackets, Young won by fall over Cameron Carr of Brady in 3:10. Beau Wiebelhaus of North Central defeated Young in the second round of consolations by fall in 2:087 to end his season.


in 220, Jacob Copper medical forfeited both matches.


Southern Valley

Braxton Hammond took the mats at 113 and was able to pick up his 100th win at the state tournament this past weekend. He began the tournament with a win by fall in 5:12 over Angel Rodriguez of Cambridge. The quarterfinals brought Carter Brandyberry of Alma and Hammond won by fall in 1:44. Tristan Olson of Anselmo-Merna defeated Hammond in the semifinals by a 6-5 decision. Hammond bounced back in the consolation semifinals with a win by fall over Angel Rodriguez of Cambridge again, this time in 2:31. In the third place match Hammond defeated Hugo Sanchez of Madison by fall in 2:54 to finish his season with a 3rd place finish.


In 145, Cole Broeker opened the tournament with a win bydecision over Mitchell Kelly of Pender, 5-3. In the quarterfinals, Mavrick Hagemann of Elkhorn Valley defeated Broeker by a 10-5 decision. In the second round of the consolation brackets he bounced back as he won by fall over Jackson Huls of Meridian. Round three brought another win as he won by decision over Tyce Porter of Meridian, 5-4. In the consolation semifinals, Caden Larsen of Ravenna won by fall over Broeker. In the 5th place match, Ryan Woitaszewski of Wisner-Pilger won by a 9-6 decision over Cole ending his season with a 6th place finish.


Mason Noel represented the eagles at 152 pounds. He began his tournament with a win by fall over Gavin Hunt of Garden County, 2:38. In the quarterfinal match, Tanner Frahm of Plainview defeated Noel by a 7-0 decision. He battled back in the consolation brackets as he defeated Rafe Hill of Arapahoe by fall in round two and Ezekiel Heaton of Hyannis by major decision in round three. He advanced to the consolation semifinals where he met up with Trey Schindler of Kimball and lost by decision. Noel advanced to the 5th place match and was defeated by Jacob Koehn of Clarkson-Leigh y fall in 4:21 to end his season with a 6th place medal.


Southwest

Mitchel Stritt competed at 126 pounds and in his opening round, Jaxon Smith of Elm Creek won by major decision. In consolation round one, Stritt won by decision over Mason Toner of Perkins County, 9-5. Gage Friesen of High Plains Community won by major decision in round two of the consolation brackets to end Stritt's season.


Southwest Girl's

Madelyn Tryon represented the Roughriders in the 190 pound weight class. She opened up the tournament with a loss to Danielle Carney of Norfolk Catholic. In the first round of consolation brackets, Tryon lost by fall to Brooklyn Vaughn of Millard West to end her season.
