RPAC Wrestling Results as of 2/23


Wrestling season has ended, and the RPAC had 43 wrestlers qualify for the state meet last week. Career milestones were achieved, school programs achieved their first state wins, and state champions were crowned. Three, to be exact. Check out all of that and more in the recap blog!



Girls State Wrestling, 2/18-19

11 wrestlers from five schools participated in the first stand-alone girls state tournament in Nebraska. Hayley Serfontein of Southern Valley/Arapahoe, Rylan Custard of Southwest, Ambie Custard of Southwest, Addison Arvdal of Sutherland, Skylar Johnson of Paxton, and Madelyn Tryon of Southwest all advanced to the quarterfinals. All 11 wrestlers competed on day two of the tournament. R. Custard, A. Custard, and Arvdal all advanced to the semifinals with A. Custard and Arvdal advanced to the championships.

Four medals went home -- Rylan Custard of Southwest placed 3rd at 115 pounds with a record of 45-1, Ambie Custard of Southwest placed 1st at 135 pounds with a record of 48-0, Addison Arvdal of Sutherland placed 1st with a record of 42-0, and Madelyn Tryon of Southwest placed 6th with a record of 38-8. Boys State Wrestling, 2/20-22

32 boys competed at their state tournament and found success on the mat as well. 14 advanced to the quarterfinals but Grady Dempcy of Sutherland, Oliver Nutter of Sutherland, Briggs Hill of Arapahoe, Jeremy Felix of Alma, and Trey Downey of Arapahoe all advanced to the semifinals. On day two, we had five wrestlers make it to the heartbreak round -- win and clinch a medal, or lose and go home. We also had those five wrestling in a semifinal match. Three of those five clinched a medal to wrestle on Saturday, and two of the five advanced to the championship matches. Wrestlers who advanced to wrestle on Saturday were Scotty Anderson of Sutherland, Kreyton Wiese of Wauneta-Palisade, Karson Shuler of Hitchcock County, Dempcy of Sutherland, Nutter of Sutherland, Hill of Arapahoe, Felix of Alma, and Downey of Arapahoe. On Championship Saturday, eight medals were brought back to RPAC territory.

Dempcy of Sutherland placed 3rd, Anderson of Sutherland placed 6th, Nutter of Sutherland placed 6th, Wiese of Wauneta-Palisade placed 6th, Downey of Arapahoe placed 6th, and Shuler of Hitchcock County placed 4th. Hill of Arapahoe placed 2nd at 138 pounds in Class D and Felix of Alma ended his season with a perfect record of 53-0 at 190 pounds in Class C. Felix ended his career with 168 wins, 327 takedowns, and 125 pins. Click here for the final day recap.
