SOUTHERN VALLEY CLAIMS RPAC GIRL'S CHAMPIONSHIP

In the consolation match, it was #3 Wauneta-Palisade from the West and #4 Southwest from the East.


The Broncos had the slight advantage after the first quarter of play, 9-6, but Southwest got things firing on all cylinders. They were able to outscore the Broncos 15-9 in the second quarter to take the lead heading into the half, 21-18. The break didn't slow Southwest down a bit as they outscored Wauneta-Palisade 30-20 for an eventual 51-38 victory. Bailey Truksa lead the way for the Roughriders with 18 points, Caylin Barnett had 12 points and six rebounds, and Kyra Nelms added 10 points.





For the championship, it was #1 Maywood-Hayes Center from the West and #2 Southern Valley from the East.


The Eagles jumped out to the early lead with an 8-5 lead after the first period. Heading into the half, Southern Valley extended their lead to 22-16 and went on a run in the third period to extend their lead to 41-27. The Wolves pushed hard in the final period but it wasn't enough as the Eagles were able to hold on to win, 54-39. This is the Eagles fourth RPAC Title but the first since the 2017-2018 season. Ashlin Broz led the way for the Wolves with 16 points. For the Eagles, Brynn Baily lead the way with 18 points and nine rebounds while Ann Bose tallied 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists and Adi Hunt added 10 points.
