The Saints Win Big at Home Versus the Minutemaids on Tuesday Night


Talk about asserting your dominance. That's what Southern Valley/Alma did taking down the Lexington Minutemaids 12-0 in three innings. Let's start in the first inning, the Saints' Mikah Schultz pitched an excellent opening inning to go to the bottom half at 0-0. The Saints then, got the offense rolling. Natalee Holste hit into a ground out but a run came across for the first run of the game. Shortly after that, Brynn Bailey had a sac fly and another run came across.


Mikah Schultz helped herself out a couple of batters later as she smoked a triple and made it 3-0. That's what the score was going into the second.





In the top half, the Minutemaids had their first hit off the game, but a ground out, pop out and a fielder's choice ended the inning quickly.





The home half of the second inning was a struggle for Southern Valley/Alm as they went 1-2-3 with two line outs and a pop out.


In the top of the third, Mikah Schultz kept things going inside the circle. She struck out a pair of batters, had a pop out and allowed a single but again, no harm was done. In the bottom of the third, the bats came alive even more for Southern Valley/Alma.


Ava Dunse got things started with a walk and then after that, the hits got rolling. Brynn Bailey, Macy Adams, Mikah Schultz, and Alex Meyers all singled Dunse came back up and doubled too. Also reaching base in the inning were Amy Luke via a HBP, Kaitlyn Bradley by a walk.


Late in the home half, Dunse was on second and Bailey hit a double when it was 11-0. That scored the 12th run to close things out.





Looking at the box score, Kaitlyn Bradley was 1-2 with two runs and a walk, Ava Dunse was 1-2 with a walk, three runs, and an RBI, Natalee Holste was 1-3 with two RBI's, and a run, Brynn Bailey was 2-3 with two RBI's and a run, Macy Adams was 1-2 with two runs scored, two RBI's and a walk, Mikah Schultz was 2-2 with two RBI's and one run scored, Amy Luke was 0-1 but reached base, Alex Meyers was 1-2 with an RBI and a run scored, Beth Crawford was 1-2 with an RBI, and a run.


In the circle, Schultz was great with three innings pitched, two hits allowed, one walk, and three strikeouts.


The Saints are now 11-5 and will be at home on Thursday against Cozad.
