TIGERS WIN DOUBLE OT THRILLER IN FIRST ROUND OF STATE TOURNEY

What a game.


Dundy County Stratton, the #5 seed took on #4 seeded Elm Creek in the first round of the Class D1 Boy's NSAA State Tournament Wednesday morning. And it was Dundy County Stratton who was able to get the win in double overtime 63-55.


In the first quarter, the Tigers and the Buffaloes were neck and neck throughout as they were tied at 15-15 at the end of the period. In the second quarter, Elm Creek was able to take the lead as they outscored the Tigers 9-4, making it 24-19 going into halftime.


In the third quarter, the Buffaloes continued to surge as they outscored Dundy County Stratton 19-14. Going into the final stanza, Elm Creek led 43-33. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers found some offense as they outscored the Buffaloes 18-8 and tied it up at the end of regulation, 51-51.


In the first overtime, offense was a struggle for both teams as only one point was scored per team. The teams went to a second overtime tied at 52-52.


In the second OT, the Tigers took complete control as they outscored the Buffaloes 11-3 to take the win.


The Tigers had four players in double figures as Jackson Kerchal 18 points, Alex Englot had 15, Andrew Englot had 13, and Ethan Lata put up 10. Corbin Horner had six assists in the game.


The Tigers will play North Platte St. Pat's on Friday in the semifinals. Tip-off is at 9:00 A.M. with the game being played at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
