Week 5 RPAC Football Results


This week was packed with football action across the RPAC. Every team was in action and we saw some great games take place. Before we dive into the blog, let's check out the scoreboard brought to you by MNB Realty.


Alma & Southern Valley


Alma and Southern Valley played one another during the Cardinals' Homecoming. Both teams entered at 0-4, so someone was getting their first win of the season. In this rivalry matchup, it was Alma getting the win in a big way, 50-0. The Cardinals went up 36-0 in the first two periods and never looked back. They had a couple of other touchdowns in the second half.


For Southern Valley, Tylor Grove had 53 passing yards and Sam Bantam had 118 rushing yards. Raiden Rickert had 55 yards receiving.


Alma is 1-4 and will play Arapahoe at home on Friday at 7:00 P.M. CT.


Southern Valley is now 0-5 and will play at Hi-Line on Friday at 7:00 P.M. CT. Both teams are 0-5 and will be an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup.






Arapahoe & Dundy County Stratton


This was an epic game in which Arapahoe won 26-20. It was an RPAC Rundown Featured matchup and you can read about it here.


Arapahoe is 5-0 and will face Alma on Friday on the road at 7:00 P.M. CT. And for DCS, they are 4-1 and will play another top-10 opponent, North Platte St. Pat's at home on Thursday at 6:00 P.M. MT.


Hitchcock County & Bertrand


In this D2-8 District battle, the Falcons hosted Bertrand and bounced back nicely winning 38-6. The Falcons now have moved to 4-1 this season and Bertrand is 1-4.


Hitchcock County will be at Loomis on Thursday, which is a big game in the district. Kickoff is at 7:00 P.M. CT. Bertrand will host Overton, who is undefeated for a Saturday game at 6:00 P.M. CT.





Cambridge


The Trojans hosted Loomis for their Homecoming. The Wolves came down to southwest Nebraska and got a nice win, 36-16 over Cambridge. Loomis led by just a score after the first quarter, 6-0. But they took over in the second quarter scoring twice and leading 22-0 at halftime. The Trojans did outscore Loomis by a narrow margin 16-14, but the Wolves did a nice job of maintaining their lead.


Jace Schukar led Loomis with 125 yards rushing and two scores. For Cambridge, Abram Norton was 9-18 passing with 117 yards and a touchdown. Braxton Mitchell was 2-2 passing with 20 yards and then also had 64 yards rushing and a touchdown. Jayden Ruf had 60 yards rushing. Tayten Koeppen had 32 yards receiving and a score.


Cambridge had 296 yards of total offense.


Defensively, Cambridge was led by Colton Perks with 11 tackles, Ruf with 10, and Maverick Webb with 10.


Cambridge is 3-2 and will face Maywood-Hayes Center at home on Thursday at 7:00 P.M.


Hi-Line


Hi-Line went to St. Pat's on Friday and fell 50-14. The Bulls were in good shape after the first quarter trailing just 6-0. They still had to feel pretty good about where they were at during the half down 21-6.


But, in the second half, North Platte scored 29 while holding the Bulls to eight.


Brody Diefenbaugh was 9-17 with 103 yards a touchdown, and one interception. Judah Niemeier had 41 yards rushing and Gage Rupp had 52 yards and a score. Simon Scharf had 63 yards receiving and a touchdown. Parker Schutz led the Bulls with seven tackles.


Hi-Line is 0-5 and will host 0-5 Southern Valley on Friday at 7:00 P.M. CT in Elwood. That will be an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup.






Maxwell


Maxwell faced a tough team in class D2, Sandhills/Thedford on Friday at home. The Wildcats dropped the game 61-14. Kyle Cox was the leading rusher for Sandhills/Thedford with 203 yards and three scores. For Maxwell, Kole Jones had 17 yards rushing and a touchdown. Griffin Flock had 27 yards rushing and a touchdown.


Maxwell is now 2-3 and will play at Mullen at 7:30 P.M. CT.


Maywood-Hayes Center


The Wolves faced a tough Overton team on Thursday and fell 65-27. The Eagles were led by Hayden Muirhead with 98 yards and two touchdowns. For MHC, Kade Broz led the Wolves with 64 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Sawyer Dibbern had 65 yards and a touchdown.


The Wolves are now 2-3 and will play Thursday at 7:00 P.M. CT against Cambridge on the road.


Medicine Valley


Medicine Valley had another tough opponent in the D6-4 District. They faced SEM, the defending 6-man champs. The Raiders dropped the game, 56-31 on the road. The Raiders found themselves down early, 36-0. They bounced back nicely in the second quarter with 19 points but allowed another 12 and were down 48-19 at halftime.


In the second half, the Raiders did outscore SEM 12-8. The Raiders are 0-4 and will play Southwest on Thursday, on the road at 7:00 P.M. CT. That will be an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup.







Paxton & Wauneta-Palisade


The Tigers hosted Wauneta-Palisade for Homecoming. Both teams entered at 2-1. Paxton was able to capture the victory in this one though with the final score reading 35-27. Scoring didn't take place until the second quarter. The Broncos led after the first two quarters, 14-13. In the second half, the Tigers used a 22-13 advantage to secure the win.


For the Broncos, Nathan Blackman was 7-13 with 78 yards and Kreyton Wiese was 3-4 with 114 yards and two touchdowns. Wiese had 185 yards rushing and a score. For receiving, Blackman had 51 yards and a touchdown, and Aden Acton had 74 yards and a score.





On defense, Blackman had 15 tackles and Acton had 12.


Paxton is now 3-1 and will face Wallace at home at 6:30 P.M. MT. Wauneta-Palisade is 2-2 and will have a bye before playing Southwest on October 11th.


Wallace & Southwest


Wallace and Southwest played each other and it was a bit of a shocker some might say as Wallace took down the Roughriders, 67-45. The Roughriders were led by the combination of Houston Billeter, 29-40 with 402 yards and six touchdowns, and an interception thrown, and Trenton Williams, 16 catches for 243 yards and four touchdowns. Per head coach Christian Arterburn, Billeter's passing yards were a school record, Williams receiving yards were a school record, and Williams receptions are a new 6-man state record.


Deric Kelly had eight catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns. The Roughriders though only ran the ball for 35 yards, averaging 2.7 yards per carry.


Kelly had 14 tackles, Billeter had 14 Jacob Barber had 13, Gage Hammond had 11, and Damario Koetter had 10.


For Wallace, Colt Franklin was 6-9 passing with 206 yards. Ashtin Johns had 178 yards rushing with four touchdowns. Masen Messersmith was the lead receiver with 151 yards and three scores. Johns led the team in tackles with 13.


Southwest is 2-2 and will host Wauneta-Palisade on Thursday at 7:00 P.M. CT which is an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup. Wallace is now 3-1, and will be at Paxton on Friday with kickoff at 7:30 P.M. CT.




Sutherland


Sutherland played a good Perkins County team on Thursday and fell, 34-20. Of course moral victories are never what you want, but playing within two scores of a solid Perkins County team has to feel good for Sutherland. The Sailors are 1-4 and will play at Hemingford on Friday at 8:00 P.M. CT.
