It was a clean sweep on Friday night at the CSO All-Star Games in Cambridge as both the girl's and boy's games went in favor of the West Squad.
In the girl's matchup, the West won in a thriller that took an extra period, 70-68. In the first period, the West squad was all over the East as they led 22-13. In the second quarter, it was neck and neck, for quarter scoring, and the West went into the half leading 32-25.
In the third quarter, the East team was able to score in bunches, putting up 24 points as Caylin Barnett of Southwest was able to score seven in the quarter.
Heading to the fourth quarter, in the late moments, Ashlin Broz of Maywood-Hayes Center was fouled as the West trailed 59-58. Broz was able to hit the shots and take a 60-59 lead. Addison Neal of Alma was able to hit a timely three, like she has so many times in her career to give the East team a 62-60 lead with 30 seconds to go.
The West countered with a bucket from Tonja Heirigs of St. Pat's to tie it at 62. Addison Neal was able to get fouled at the end of regulation, but she missed both free throws to send it to overtime.
In the extra period, the West team was able to outscore the East 8-6.
For the West team, Kiley Hejtmanek had 12 points, Ashlin Broz had five. Bryn McNair of Chase County led the way with 20 points a was their MVP.
For the East Squad, Addison Neal had nine, and Caylin Barnett had 21 and was their MVP.
In the boy's game, it was the West who won by a large margin, 108-86. In the first period, the scoring was fast and furious as the East led 26-24. In the second quarter, The East kep their narrow lead, up at halftime 50-47.
In the third quarter, the West team went off for 31 points including four threes in the period as a team. The East team was able to put up 18 points and they trailed 78-68.
In the final quarter, the three's continued to fall for the West team and they scored 30 points while holding the East team to 18 points.
The West team was led by Hayden Kramer of Maywood-Hayes Center with 23 points but it was Andrew Brosius of St. Pat's who was the MVP with 15 points on five three's.
For the East team, Peyton Herrick of Alma recorded seven points and Dru Truax of Lexington had 19 points and was named the MVP.
